ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

The two middle seats in row 2 of the refurbed A330 worked a treat last night from MEL-PER. Had a sleep after a meal and movie so all good getting home later in the evening.

YSSY also seems to report that QPJ will be undergoing a check, which might explain the two month period - although didn't QPH/QPI not undergo checks?

I suspect all the aircraft undergo some form of check when refurbed - just depends on how major.. Id still expect QPJ to be a month not two

The 2-3-2 J bird that subbed in from the new J seating was a big stepdown from F after landing in SYD the other day.

How many of these 2-3-2 configs are left? (Yes, the middle seat is blocked).

I agree, definitely can't go soon enough!
Out of last four flights Per-Syd return, three have been the 2-3-2 configuration.
Yes its J but still feels somewhat cramped being 6'8 in the old scale.

I've had three out of three in the old configuration the last 7 days (MEL-PER return) after having flown only VA suites for the last 2 years...
I had read some reviews and was hoping to try the QF equivalent.
Considering the fares are pretty much the same price the seats are really letting QF down. I think the only people that fly them are the extremely loyal QF pax who perhaps don't know any better (or have no VA points).

Some negative news on the refurbs from the ever reliable FredJ on YSSY on the 332 front (of which there are 7 left to be refurbed - EBG, EBL, EBM, EBO, EBP, EBQ, EBR)

EBB goes in for heavy shortly after EBA. Not sure which or when the next A332 reconfig is.
EBA/EBB have already been refurbed, and EBA went into maint on 8-April
EBA/EBB are 13.5, 13.4yrs respectively and EBC/EBD 13.2yrs so some I would say high potential that they need to complete similar C-checks on all 4 of those 332s back to back.

Chris has previously mentioned his latest comment on the 333s
QPJ will be parked in BNE from the 23rd April, unless needed, until the 3rd May when it will then enter the hangar for a check and reconfiguration.

So the following is a new rough guess at the schedule for remaining 330s (assuming a 1-month heavy C-check on EBA-EBD)
April - nothing (EBA check and HA aircraft in maint)
May - QPJ (+EBB check)
June - 1 refurb (+ EBC)
July - 1 refurb (+ EBD)
August - 2 refurbs
September - 2 refurbs
October - Final refurb

Of course potential for three aircraft in the hanger, but also unsure of any other maint tasks in the meantime if QF Maint is doing the refurb work for HA 330s (they are refurbing 22 aircraft) or just C-checks (only N380HA and N381HA are 6yo, other aircraft are quite a bit younger)

Getting awfully close to my November flight in an A332 :-/

Delete EBN* from F2. Add EBN to F8
Delete QPG* from F5. Add QPG to F9
Put * against EBA in F8

And then in a few days (once QPJ starts sitting in BNE on 23/4 prior to refurb commencing 3/5)
Delete Column 5. Add QPJ* to F9

My wife and I are looking to book a return trip in Business class from Sydney to Singapore in February 2017. By this date all Qantas A330's are expected to have been refurbished into the new 1-2-1 cabin formation. To book a February flight now the seating selection is the old 2-2-2 formation. If we now select a seat based on the 2-2-2 formation and our flight subsequently changes to the new arrangement which has fewer business class seats, how are they going to accommodate all people who booked a business class seat before the change is made ?

Interesting. I'd book a seat that exists in the new format.

But the problem is if we book now, which is what we want to do, the seat selection is in the current format.
Very confused how this will work when the flight changes to the new, fewer seat configuration, and all seats are potentially booked.
Surely this occurs now with the progressive rollout of the new configuration ?
