ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

Don't know if this has been raised before but Qantas are making the false claim that this will be the worlds first seats that allow you to recline takeoff through to landing. Qantas A330 I think that Air New Zealand might have something to say about that claim, especially given that they have had this feature in Business Premier since about 2006

How does the CX A330 business class product compare to the current QF A330 business class product?

There is a world of difference. The CX J seat is actually marketed by its manufacturer as an F seat. I don't think I need to say anything else.

the official manufacturer zodiac aerospace website im looking at, markets the CX J seat as a J seat:confused:

Yep, earlier on in this thread.

July should be pretty safe, although I would have a guess and say that MEL has a greater chance than BNE.

I need to fly SIN-SYD in Feb, and there is 1x U class seat available. Wonder if it's worth the gamble.
The issue with BNE-MEL-HKG is there is only ~1h 10m in MEL which worries me even though I would be protected I wouldn't want want to lose 1 day. I can get to MEL the night before but then I would need 1 night accommodation.

Ironically if QF had stayed with their original claim 'only seat that can be reclined from Australia to Asia during take-off and landing' they would have been ok. But they got rid of that and now make it a 'world's first' claim. I am wondering if they will later market that alongside the 'world's first business class'.

I would say that this thread is going to be full of some very unhappy people over the next year or so. The first new J aircraft is due for late Dec 2014 and the last at the end of 2016 (and this will most likely slip).

So, for all of 2015, you will have a better chance old getting old J than new J.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story! Qantas also used to claim that their non-stop MEL-LAX service was a first even though Pan Am beat them to that by about 15 years with their SP's. Even though it only ran for about a year it was a scheduled service.

True, except for maybe December 2015 when the odds are maybe 50/50 ?
Also you can (probably?) push the odds further in your favour by picking a route likely to get upgraded first, such as the flights to SYD/MEL-SIN and MEL/SYD-PER ? As opposed to say BKK, CGK, NRT, MNL. Not sure about HKG maybe its higher up on the list ?

I would have thought HKG (v CX) and SIN (v SQ) are both high on the order for International upgrades.
Then probably NRT, BKK, CGK, MNL, HNL

why???? is it because QF cant refit 28 a/c fast enough?? pull all 28 a/c offline to refit them all at once...or 3-4 at once...disrupting the schedules that F/Fers value so much!! ..refits take time...the timeline has been given...if you are very unhappy that you may not get a refit a/c over the next year...then i think thats more your issue of unrealistic expectations

Fair enough. I had read somewhere that it is an F seat. I should have checked my facts, as you did. In any case it is streets ahead of Skybed Mk I, as fitted to the A330s, and also better than the Skybed Mk II.

My guess is that the new J suite will be in line with the CX J seat, not ahead of. Of course that is pure conjecture at the moment.

Interesting to see if the hype is warranted.

Looking at award availability I wish the airlines got their act together.

I think BA use this seat in their F cabin.

I think you are quite right. It is heavily modified to look nicer and more like an F seat. And it is done so at the huge expense of functionality. (Storage space? Hello?). Then again, when you have arguably the worst long-haul J product out of all half-decent carriers, then this is not surprising.

VH-QPA has headed into maintenance in BNE to be refitted.

So it begins.

An interesting choice.
- QFs oldest A330-300 delivered in Nov-2003
- Had 17 days out of service in August in SIN where it was repainted with the new Roo

There'd be little chance that QF would undertake this refurbishment in delivery or alphabetical order wouldn't there e.g. VH-QPB second? Other factors such as availability on day X would come into play, surely, or number of cycles since last major maintenance?

Of course this is the case. Proven by the fact that the first -200 aircraft to be refitted will be VH-EBV which is the newest in the fleet.
