Well that's more conclusive - and unfortunately in the negative for me. Major disappointment there, vastly cheapens the whole look IMHO and will be far less comfortable for a longer flight than the fabric option would have been :(

Now you have to wonder why they ever had the glossy promo shots showing the more stylish blue fabric at all!!!??

I fully suspected leather based on the Sydney demo.
For sleeping won't matter given QF has the dooner cover.

Interesting seeing multiple rows is that every odd aisle seat is a lot more private due to the divider (eg. 1F front and centre in the shot is a lot more private than 2F)

It's 1-2-1 so the width is the width.
CX is also 1-2-1 in its A330 reconfigured.

SQ has an older product (2-2-2) in its A330s.
I was referring more to the design rather than the acutal config, and no, we're not going anywhere near the SQ A330s. :)

I wonder how wide the seat is as well. AJ's seat (and I suppose all of the more private ones) seems like a rather tight fit for someone with a wider build as it's all vertically blocked in at the waist area.

so ALL the other (PREMIUM) airlines that have leather seats in their J/C and/or P/C cabins are LCC
No ... just LCC'ish.

In general the use of leather in aircraft seats has the result of saving in cleaning costs - hence "Low(er) Cost (Carrierish)".

Why should I care - well with most leather seating I have experienced get very damp and uncomfortable after an hour or so, while cloth covering "breathes" enabling perspired moisture to disperse rather than pool.

Yes, there will be 'doona covers' or 'mattresses' on longhaul sectors - but I don't believe these can be used gate to gate and I doubt so much available on domestic segments.

Re: Airbus A330 flights expected to include the introduction of lie-flat seats in bus

The Domestic A330 fleet AFAIK will be leather seating.
The International A330 fleet AFAIK will be material seating .

I'm happy to be proven wrong if I'm incorrect.

That is interesting.... and could explain why both versions appear in the QF promo shots and video...

Would be great if RR could confirm either way!

the leather doesnt get sweaty....you do!! ...and thousands of travellers seem to manage with leather seating (without sweating) across many airlines (including domestic) in all classes over many flight lengths... so i suggest if you despise leather seating that much even after an hour or so.....drive in your cloth seated car or catch a cloth seated train or bus!! at least on any QF domestic J/C (and Y/C if you ask) you can get a blanket to use as a seat covering......VA take note!!

I guess that would be consistent with current J products.

The mattress can be used from gate to gate on the A330.

True, but perspiration is natural and I as a paying passenger hope to be as comfortable as possible.

I don't "despise" leather seating but after over 1000 RPT journies mainly since 1994, as a PAX in various modes of air transport, I know that I am more comfortable on cloth.

To be honest, I am surprised at your vehemence ...

I'd had the same thought and it makes sense. Let's see how it pans out.

Funny thing. In cars cloth is cheap and leather is luxury. In RPT aircraft it's the other way around. I'm suspecting in private jets it's leather all the way :)

Seems you are correct - some google searching tonight turned up this article New Qantas A330 Business Class Seats | QFlyer

After a visit to the QF Centre for Service Excellence they report "The domestic seats will have a leather seat and the international is a fabric design, apparently something to do with breathability on longer flights."

Article also had some good close up pics of the International Model with the fabric finish:

Glad to see that at least for the longer flights they have gone with the better looking more comfortable option!

I've done a draft ready reckoner on the Airbuses.

What have I missed and what have I got wrong?

Missed the new A330-200 which will have new J seats, but only recovered Y seats.
The J IFE in both will be ex3, in the 300 in Y will be exlite, and in the 200 presumbaly existing (old/new panas) and/or ipads.

Nope, it depends who buys it but non leather kit is an option
