Re: QANTAS BNE-SIN J Class seating

And pleased to advise that QF24 on 02 Nov has changed to the new version.

Re: QANTAS BNE-SIN J Class seating

The refurb of the A330s will continue into late 2016 so nothing is guaranteed until then.
At the moment 4 of 10 330-300s have been completed and 1 is currently in the shop.

So by September your odds are looking at better than 50% (5 of 9)'

Given the amount I am spending with QF on their international fares I want more than a 50% chance by September.

Call me old fashioned but PAX taking 8+ hour flights with many overnight should take priority over PAX flying to PER on corporate rates.

If QF hadn't stuffed their fleet management they wouldn't be in the position of having to refurb their entire A330 fleet from scratch months after doing the same to their 767 fleet then ditching them.

Lot of Ifs
If Boeing hadn't screwed up its 787 program
If Govt allowed depreciation on aircraft similar to overseas airlines
Etc etc

I prefer to live in the present
Qantas announced their program and are doing it.

The 767 refurbishment was hardly much - new seat coverings and coloured armrests and a few iPads. Was only ever a stopgap

Appears VH-EBK may be next. Has been sitting at MEL for a few days having been withdrawn from Jetstar fleet on 19/7 according to JetstarSource

Can't wait to try this product, even though I have to wait until next May (my belated birthday gift to myself)! I was deciding between CX J to HK or QF. QF won!

What if it is not the new J suites on your aircraft. Still no guarantee by then, although you would hope !

True, but fingers crossed. I guess aircraft changes can always happen.

Although you have got me thinking...what if.

A few lucky domestic flyers on Tue/Wed as VH-QPA 330-300 went on some domestic runs
581 SYD-PER
6112 PER-SYD
405 SYD-MEL
Now back to normal as QF29 to HKG

(Via YSSY board)

Has the A330 SYD-CGK route now been increased to 5 services per week? I thought it was only 3?

Probably a silly question, but which QF aircraft flies to HKG from SYD? I thought it was a combo of A380s and 747s but do A330s fly this route too? Or are they the QF connections to MEL or BNE? I must admit that if I was going to fly J from Syd (on an A388 or 747), it might be worth hopping over to BNE or MEL since the A330's J seat is a lot better!

Mmmmm, maybe!
Depends if you score a seat in the F cabin on the A380.

And VH-EBK has operated as JQ7990 to BNE, so seemingly getting refurb before the paintjob

So
VH-EBK 330-200 In 22/7 Expect to paint shop in late-Aug
along with
VH-QPI 330-300 In 7/7 Based on first 4 out early-Sep, but may not need C-check and has been only plane in hanger for 2wks so may be quicker

moa999, given that there has been further change, could you please redo your 'TT' - 'terrific table' as to how the refurbishments are going (fleet regos. and dates in and out, plus next one(s) to be done if known) as it is a very handy resource for many AFFers.

Wouldn't any temporary increase in SYD - CGK and return to five a week be to do with the ending of the Muslim Ramadan period and consequent holidays for many Indonesians? Not so long ago, QF ran four times a week to CGK (same as to MNL, although one day of operation each week differed from the MNL flights) but unlike MNL, which is often QF's highest load factor route, flights to CGK were cut back to three a week.

CGK is still 4 days a week, operating Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun.

Firstly Qantas has 10 A333's and needs almost all of them to fulfil their operating roster. So can only really do one at a time. I could well imagine if they took two off at once and subbed in a domestic A330, people would be complaining how they had been diddled out of their hard earned

The 767 had a minor face lift which was only ever meant to be short term, though they did accelerate them due to changing market conditions. The only reason the 767's were there so long was becase of the 787 delays, do recall that the 787's were meant to be flying domestic as their replacement.

As for the A330 it is being scheduled at exactly the right time from both a fleet age perspective and competition perspective.

Disagree. The paying customer should not have to wait for 36 months while a carrier refurbs one plane at a time.

If I was paying LCC fares then I would have no issue whatsoever, but the fact is many of these asian routes are being priced at top dollar (e.g. MNL-SYD this week is $1670 = one way - what a joke!)
