Re: QANTAS BNE-SIN J Class seating

Qantas made it very clear the 767 refurb was a stop gap measure, not a long term one such as the Japanese have done.

Be that as it may... I flew on a 'refurbished' 767 that was just a couple months after they started rolling them out, and already the seats were scuffed and marked. I prefer cloth seating I guess.

Re: QANTAS BNE-SIN J Class seating

Twice last year on a 777.

a 77W with coffin seating rather than herringbone? Unless you mean regional configuration? (I assumed you meant international because of of the article on the new seats).

Re: QANTAS BNE-SIN J Class seating

Indeed the herringbone which I hate so remember. This year have had the 330s which have the new seat.

CX flies 2 seat types for long haul (really 3 because A330 seat is smaller than 77W) and another 2 types of seat regionally. But currently the product flown ex-AUS is consistent, just one type.

Not sure how the A330 and the 77W seats differ, but they're consistently sending a 77W to SYD these days.

The seat is essentially the same but is a bit wider on the B77W. The foot well is also more roomy.

CX139/138 is the sole service at present to receive the B77W, with the other three daily services being operated by the A333.

A332 VH-EBG is operating the 1350 hours Qf41 between SYD and CGK (and the return QF42 this evening.) moa999 and other experts on the refurbishment program, is use of the four internationally configured A332s becoming just a bit more common on the QF Asian flights with at least one A333 typically 'out' for lengthy hangar attention as per moa999's excellent table?

I need to book a flight to CGK soon, hope I get lucky

QF41/42 has been nominally 332 for almost a year. The past week it has been 333 due to the end of the Indonesian holiday period. At the same time QF5/6 which is normally a 333 has been using a 332 so guess they just transposed the two.

Flying QF20 tonight but no luck. Also on QF19 next Wed didn't see the new seat map then either...oh well. Fingers crossed for the aircraft swap gods!

Mrmaxwell, you certainly are keen - a few days away from MNL and you then travel north to it again - I won't ask 'why don't you just stay there?'

As others have remarked it appears to be somewhat 'pot luck' at present. For instance if I recall VH-QPD was on QF19 on Wednesday 8 July and VH-QPA more recently on a different day of the week (Saturday I think - I did not write it down.)

If an A330 was ever going to MNL it might be logical for it to be on the Friday or Saturday QF19 as these two of the four weekly flights could be expected to be the busiest (and highest yielding) in most weeks (although SYD- MNL is often QF's highest percentage of seats occupied route - probably not highest yielding per available seat kilometre though.) However there's no logic to it and as jb747 keeps reminding us, the 'whole industry' is based around number of rotations undertaken per aircraft and other similar indicators so we cannot always assume that the ten A330s are 'equal' in their ability to form a particular flight on day X, even though there might not be many kilometres' or flying hours in operation difference between say QF19 to MNL and QF5 or QF81 to SIN.

Given that SYD - MNL is not on the routes that QF publicised as being first to benefit from the refurbished aircraft, assuming that you will get an older 'bird' might result in a pleasant surprise now and again on QF19 or QF20.

I flew to Mnl from Syd on QF 19, 18th July, which is a Saturday. Got a refurbished bird in J.
Was not too impressed with the new seats...though of course, miles better than the old ones! Maybe my expectations were too high due to the hype.
They really do not have room to stow your hand luggage by your seat. The blankets are not great either.

The odd numbered window seats have an extra storage area in them that the even ones don't. Go figure!

Booked on QF597 and the current seat map in Y goes up to Row 58 (compared to the row 59 options on SeatGuru). Would this indicate it's likely to be fitted with the new business suites?

QF have the seat maps for the 332's on their site, I'm sure that would confirm either way.

Would someone be able to look up for me if QF577 on August 6 looks like a refurb or not at the moment? Thanks for your help...
