I am mighty P$$$$d just checked seatmap for my paid J flight SYD-SIN in November with wife and infant. Now on a non-refurb! grrr. after all that planning to get a refurb.. being this far out could it potentially change back to a refurb?

November is still 2 months away - a lot can happen in that time.

A lot can happen in 2 months, still way too early to say with any certainty that you will have a refurb or a skybed.

Yes I know, just bitterly (maybe a slight exaggeration) disappointed, and my one other time when flying from SIN-MEL in J I specifically booked on a refurb only for it to be subbed and not changed back.

The other irritating part is we had 1 F K (bassinet seat) so I was only across the isle, now it has left me in 1F and wife +baby in 1K and seated someone in 1J next to my wife.

Are there anymore 330-300 refurbs due out of the workshop before early november?

QPE due early-Oct then depends if QPF (2mths) or QPJ (maybe 1mth as no C-check) goes next

Interestingly my Nov QF61 flight has also changed from new layout to old - and I though there was a 'promise' to always have the new layout on those flights between Brisbane and Narita?

still a long way out - will have to see what emerges.

Yes you are correct Andy QPI has had a refurb but not a paint job yet. One would think QPF would be next followed by QPG, QPH & QPJ. They still have 4 to repaint which will hopefully happen very soon.

Interestingly I've got a SYD-BKK return in December/January that up until a few days ago was showing new config both ways and now is showing old both ways. Perhaps they are defaulting to old to avoid disappointing people and will be a surprise bonus??

Our BNE-NRT flight in 10 days was non refurbed but now showing as new seats.Reverse for QF 24 in 2 months.Win some, lose some.

I thought QPI was already refurbed? Although I think it still needs a paint job.

Corrected. Meant QPJ
Speculating that similar to QPI it may not get C-Check.
QPH, QPI, and QPJ are all mid-late 2005 deliveries and 12-18 months younger than QPG (which along with QPD, QPE, QPF were early-mid 2004 deliveries)

Can someone explain to me with only 10 A333 planes how QF can spread these across all the Asian flights now scheduled?

Not counting the 747 HKG service there are still more than 10 routes that need servicing.

VH-EBK positioned back SIN-BNE overnight as QF6010.
Should go into service shortly which will make 6 A332s

Other question do they schedule refurb A330's in the system (seatmap) BEFORE they are delivered? or only after they are in service?

QF has said that all of the 300s will be used for international, and a number of the 200s as well. So far, two of the converted 200s (EBV and EBS) have been designated as international - look at the seat maps on the QF website.

I don't think that was the question. Think the OP was just making the general statement how can Qantas fly all their A330 international routes with just 13 aircraft vis 10 -300 and 3 international -200's. Whist of course Qantas does plan to use some of the later 'domestic' -200s on international routes, that is because they are getting rid of the dedicated international -200 fleet (one more to go and other 2 transformed to domestic only). So essentially the status quo, refurb or not is much the same.

So the simple answer is Qantas know how to roster their international A330's to get the maximum amount of use out of them. In fact read somewhere, might have been here, increasing the utilisation of the A330 fleet to one of the highest in the world is something that has helped turn QFi around.

And it has been suggested that all the Panasonic IFE equipped 332 aircraft - ie. 8 of them (including EBS/EBV) will be able to be used for international operations (despite having full leather interiors in J)
