Amazing job moa999 correlating the data!

Just booked J SYD xBNE NRT and vv in late Dec returning late Jan and at the moment both int'l legs are showing the new 333, as a bonus my SYD-BNE flight is also showing as a refurb'd 332!

Can't wait for holidays!

Just logged into my account and checked next month's BNE-PER rtn and now both legs are showing as refurbed 332s as opposed to just one. Nice, but of course both could change to non-refurbs before we fly.....

Just did the same and two return flights per-bne and per-mel have both gone from both legs on ex-jetstar to new config...

Now the waiting game and hoping it holds.

Just booked some flights from MEL-PER next year for a mini-moon (small honeymoon) and have got the new config on the way over. Can someone recommend the best pair of seats for a couple? I have the choice of anything from row 5-8 and it was mentioned earlier that the middle pair weren't great but looking at the way the seats are staggered (at least in the diagram) I'm wondering if 6F and 5K might be the best options even though technically they're not in the same row. Advice from people who have flown the new config would be most appreciated.

Edit: It is especially disappointing to read these type of comments given how long QF took to start installing these seats from initial announcement and how long the installation is taking! It seems like they could have saved themselves a lot of time and effort.

QF could have gone for a reverse herringbone - same as CX uses. Arguably a better seat on CX and no delays due to certification. And same number of seats.

And reverse herrigbone is so much easier from a passenger perspective... no worrying about which aisle seat (ie up against the window, or against the aisle). All seats in all rows are the same.

But hey, this is about the airline, not the passenger right?

I actually would argue that the QF config offers variety and choice. I mean some people prefer the QF suite with the seat near the aisle, and others prefer it towards the window (or middle as case may be). So, you potentially offer a choice of different layouts. The downside is, of course, if you like a certain sort of configuration for your suite, and they are all taken vs all being more or less the same. I think QF may have gambled on making the product more unique MAY give them an edge vs. the various regional products of their competition.

Just a thought

those numbers are good

odd window number and corresponding middle seat are the best for couples as both sides of the suite are open to each other

Don't assume what you like is what all pax like.

I, for one, am not a fan of herringbone/reverse herringbone. I much prefer the config that QF has gone with (and EK's A380 config, which is somewhat similar).

ANY airline wont please ALL the people ALL the time.. that's why there are CHOICES.. if you don't like it, go elsewhere... there will still be others to fill the seats because they prefer one particular seating 'arrangement' over other airlines' options :D

That's a valid point! I suppose I should try the new seats. In 2017. When there will finally be a guarantee that you'll get it :)

Thanks. The QF seatmaps show something similar, but I was wondering what the reality was from those who have flown. Any photographs please?

We flew on EBS last week. Indeed, 4F/3K, 6F/5K and 8F/7K are aisled seat pairs that are almost aligned across the aisle. However with the privacy return, you won't be able to see each other's face and it's a bit difficult to converse across the aisle without disturbance to others or by the service cart and crew/pax movement. Quite frankly, for couples, I think the middle two seats are better if conversation is desired, they are closer together. Just don't forget you're not in a confessional. In both the across aisle and middle row seats, you'll both have to lean forward to see each other's face. Quite frankly, with the BIG screen, you'll probably be entertained more than you'd be chatting.
They are great fun, enjoy yourselves.

I would assume that ALL would like a speedy fleet update...to think it will be almost 5 years once the refurb is completed since the initial press announcement is hilarious. Once completed they will need to announce the next refurb!

As the MNL route is getting no love I have booked CX via HKG for my next flight - that is how much I dislike the old hard seats on the current 333.

T

Three years.. but hey.
Seats announced Aug 13
Final design Oct 14
Begin installation Dec 14
Complete installation Guessing around Aug 16

As for the next refurb,
I would expect whatever product goes into the 787-9s (arriving 2017/2018) (most likely to be a tweaked Business Suite),
will also go into the A380s, the earliest of which will be 10 years old (OQA/B/C being 2008 deliveries) along with a new F Suite and refreshed Y, plus hopefully WiFi throughout

Ironic, considering it took 2 years for CX to upgrade their regional A330. First aircraft Sep 2012, last end 2014.
