You've got a good chance but a plane can always go tech or divert last minute and a reshuffle occurs

Wow it's amazing that even this close to departure my chances are still only "good" lol oh well fingers crossed then I guess its true then about death and taxes being life's only guarantees haha

IIRC Even numbers are the inside seats.
Yip!

The even numbered A/K seats have a little less work/storage space than the odd numbered ones, but being away from the aisle may be more important on an overnight flight.

Considering -EBV left Sydney as QF41 a few hours ago, QF42 is going to be refurb! Either that or it goes tech and the OP might find themselves on Garuda or a few extra nights in Jakarta!

VH-EBE, the final aircraft back from JQ off to SIN as QF6011, tracking over inland Australia at present. Expect it back in QF colours in a fortnight

Well, we scored refurbs (same bird - EBB) on both QF589 last week and 598 today. Very impressed with seats. No issues with IFE, the seat or anything in fact. I can see how phones/small tablets and other small items can get lost down the side of the seat though.

A tip for anyone wanting to use the bassinet.... book 1A and 2E or 1K and 2F. 1E and F are fully one row staggered from 1A/K.

Today I think was another first - all Asia bound flights from SYD and BNE (8 flights) were operated by reconfigured A330 aircraft. 3 flights to SIN, 1 to BKK, PVG, CGK, HKG and NRT were operated by QPA, QPB, QPC, QPD, QPE, QPI, EBS and EBV.

MEL flights to Asia (SIN and HKG) were operated by old config (QPH, QPJ).

QPG is not in operation today.

Ok have just returned from BKK on a refurb plane. Sat in 3A close to the aisle and thankful for that little bit of relief. Would've been too hard to do further away from the aisle.

Frankly I am unimpressed. The seat is like a coffin and feels small. Yes I'm a big bloke but this seat is small. Once my feet were in the box as it were I felt uncomfortable and wasn't able to move freely. Getting in and out when the seat was in bed mode was very hard.

Whilst I slept, it wasn't comfortable and I was glad to disembark. Not looking forward to my next trip on this plane type.

IMHO the A380 J seat is how it should be done. Much wider and doesn't require gymnastic moves to enter and depart.

Well at least you got to try it. I was supposed to be on a refurb as we speak but am now parked in a MK1 Skybed. QF 117 to HKG. Guaranteed to be a refurb to flyer says. I know there are always late aircraft changes but have a feeling the BKK flight which delayed took out refurb. Hopefully next time I get a swap in my favour. Red Roo if you're reading QF128 on the 8th would be perfect!! ;)

There are no guarantees until the entire fleet has been refurbished.

Sorry who guaranteed a Refurb?? As above nothing is guaranteed yet, albeit the 330-300s will be within a few months

The impression from the QF117/118 launch is that it will be operated by a refurb, and the QF61/62 rotation was marketed in a similar way. Of course, I would guess that most pax would prefer to depart/arrive more or less on time rather than waiting for a few hours unnecessarily just for newer seats.

Albeit been posted a few times in this thread that while that route has a higher percentage than most, it's still not guaranteed

no matter what ANY business does...they still wont please all the people all the time...its a fact of life..but i do enjoy reading posts on forums like this

Reported on YSSY that VH-EBC will be the next (9th) 330-200 refurbed, scheduled to go to BNE on 13/11 and complete mid-December
This lines up with when VH-EBE is due back from SIN, freshly painted into QF livery (from JQ).
Will leave VH-EBD as the only Millenium J-seat/ipad aircraft and likely next candidate.

VH-EBQ has also been in BNE since 3/11 but believed to be mechanical check only.

On the 330-300 side, the 7th refurb VH-QPF not expected to be completed until early December.
This leaves VH-QPG (two months younger than QPF so likely to be another two-month combined refurb/C8 check) and VH-QPH, VH-QPJ (about 18-months younger so likely to be just refurbs like QPI).
If QPH, QPJ were refurbed first (pure speculation), then you would have all 9 active 330-300s complete by early-Feb, otherwise it will most likely be early-Mar.

Without any changes to the pattern or other breaks/c-checks, all 10 330-300s to be completed by early April 2016, and all 18 330-200s by end-July 2016.

By comparison, Virgin will have all 6 domestic 330s refurbed by end-November 2015, before starting on its 5 777s
