If you cancel say halfway through an annual period - do you get a partial refund of the annual fee you paid?

Yes and No. YMMV. If you push hard enough you may.

Are you paying $1200pa or $950?

I am looking at getting this card and it will on the $950, so looking at an indication of potential sweeteners ongoing. This is promising, I hadn't seen any better than 36k points I got last year on my Reserve and was beginning to think that might be the limit.

I held an affiliate Amex Express Reserve card. I called up to cancel the card yesterday as it was coming up to annual fee renewal time. I was secretly hoping to be offered some points to keep the card. I didn't get offered anything . FYI, My spend was about $2 - $3k a month. Time to move onto another amex card and get some bonus sign up points

thats interesting, i didnt know about that.

I have been looking for those figures for a long time! Can't see amex's in a quick google but will look for those later. I assign 2c to each point when i do thw maths. But i use them for business class flights which makes them mor valuable. Anyone else assign a notional value???

for QF/VA, 1 cent per point taking in to account the opportunity cost of wish gift cards at 0.67c/p. My 1c/p is calculated roughly on what I would be willing to pay for a J flight in cash, and takes in to account the cost of taxes, etc, as well.

$950 is through some professional organisations (eg AMA). Sign on bonus is less / sometimes nothing.

I value VA points at approx 1.5c. This assumes good availability in J to the USA which may be a thing of the past. QFF I'm not so sure. Maybe 1.2c. Amex points I value at approx 2c each. Y maths MV.

Professional associations. CPA have it at $950 with 100k bonus points. Don't think referral bonus would work though

Some time back, like 6 years back, I gave up my DJs card in order to get Velocity card. Then, I was told one cannot have more than 3 cards. Is that the case now?

Three x AMEX-issued, as far as I know.

I was told last Feb when applied for velocity platinum and had to candle my DJS card, max of 2 Amex issued credit cards & 2 Amex charge cards.
