Amex Shop Small is on [Oct/Nov 2016]

I had a merchant yesterday who'd initially said they would split a large bill. Then they couldn't be bothered so said 'we'll get charged each time' so we're going to deal elsewhere even with no shop small concession. Some people just don't want to do the extra work to get the extra sales.

Topped up myki 3 times yesterday! Confirmed on Amex email! Did a magnum, apple pie and tinned fruit small shop too. Ate out but mate would not do a small shop place :(

Amex sent me a replacement credit card and I stupidly activated it, not realising that my current card would stop working. Does that mean no more credits for me, or will I get them on the new card?

Just register it manually on AmexConnect. I did that yesterday for a new supplementary card and the maximum quota had not been reached for Shop Small.

Its an Amex Amex though, amexconnect redirects to Amex which shows the offer saved to my card. Between that and the card number not changing, I'd say it is still registered.

Sounds like you will be ok with the card number being the same. I have found like you that trying to register an Amex amex through amexconnect does not work - but using a manual link does ;)

I think most of these still work if anyone is after them;

With the same number, I agree, you will be OK.

You can register an Amex Amex through AmexConnect though. I do that all the time and it is the way people find out the manual link that needs to be used.

Just make sure you not logged into either Amex OLB or AmexConnect, enter an Amex Amex card number in to register a new account, you then get the 'Let's get started' prompt and yuo click through to offers and then the 'Enroll Now' button which sends you to the manual registration page, as per the examples quoted by Steady.

Good to know, thanks.

If I had to guess, and I do because I can't say for sure, I'd say that if the replacement card has a different number to the one it's replacing, you need to register the replacement card too. If not, should be tickety-boo.

I too have a replacement card waiting to be registered but I'm not doing that until Dec 1 - just to be sure.

If you receive a replacement card even if it has a new number then you will find the Amex 'offers' are transferred from the old card. You will not be able to register for an offer again and 'double dip'.

Ive found this too. Amex are successful in linking the cards. Direct debits will also transfer across even if number changes

I completed Shop Small today - 71 credits from 7 cards. It seems that manual credits for where a business refused to accept Amex don't count in your total. I did 20 OPAL top-ups and the rest were a mixture of cafes / restaurants, chemists, and shops. I couldn't have survived without a spreadsheet detailing which card had been used where. I found most businesses accepting of dividing up purchases into $20 lots on multiple cards although one business insisted a $90 purchase could only be split into 2.

It has been a great month for Amex credits with 5 * $40 DJ credits and 6 * $100 HN credits plus a couple of others. Well north of $1500 in all.

Can you tell me where you did Opal top ups in Sydney please? Between +1 and myself, we have 6 Amex cards, and will barely have done 1 /2 the maximum number :(...we have been away 1/2 of November though ;) +1 is not working tomorrow and the day after, and i intend to send her all over Sydney to do the balance :lol:....New one for me tonight...one of the cafes listed on Shop Small has changed ownership and I only noticed when I did not get an email and checked my credit card to find out that the cafe had a new name and presumably a change in ownership :(
