Anyone Flying To Melbourne For AFL Footy Finals?

Have been in Dom Rep and USA for last 2 weeks and have virtually not logged into AFF in that time.

I did watch the Hawks / Crows match live whilst in Las Vegas on Sat night - was wondering to myself where that earlier poster went to who said this years finals series was going to be a bit of a yawn?

I did not find that game at all difficult to stay awake through - am tipping Saturdays encounter at the G could well be just as juicy.

The GF always promises a close result, while statistically speaking they are not.

Whilst the Crows/Hawks game was close, most games have been somewhat uninspiring.
Inside fifties for both prelim winners were totally dominant, and as such If both the Swans and the Hawks kicked straight both games were a total blowout.

Results as most have predicted have fallen the way they would.

The Hawks great weakness is an opposition power forward, their full back, Schoenclangers couldn't get a kick in a kung fu fight. and sadly the Swans don't really have one to totally dominate, kick a bag and exploit that weakness (like Walker/Tippett, Cloke/Dawes etc) So you would think that whilst the swans midfielders/flankers kick goals, I just cant see them putting in the needed 15+ goals to get the Hawks.

Please don't get me wrong, I want the Swans to win, but logic tells me otherwise.

I am very confident that our moderator Serfty is hoping for a Grand Final win by Hawthorn.

I am heading OUT of Melbourne for the NRL grand final. Go Storm. Redemption time.

Looking forward to the big game on Saturday with the mighty swans to hopefully get up. On that note I would love if anyone has access to tickets (or are able to put me in touch with someone who does), happy to pay a fair price, PM me if you are able to help. Was there in 05 and 06 and would love to get there this year!

Big weekend for me.

Hawks in GF Saturday followed by Lunchtime flight to Sydney Sunday, back home by Midnight.

Hopefully it's not like Prelim. Final weekend last year when both Hawks and Storm lost ...:-|

Weather is looking pretty average, tempted to take the odds on the Swanns at present to ensure I win either way, if Hawks win I lose twenty dollars beer money, if Swans win that twenty makes enough for a nice scotch to drown my sorrows, after Bathurst is next weekend ;).

I am going to both too. In Sydney for work tomorrow so flying up from Canberra tomorrow morning, Flying down to Melbourne tomorrow night from Sydney, attend AFL GF in AFL members Saturday, fly to Sydney Sunday morning, attend NRL grand final, get lift back with a mate to Canberra Sunday night.

Rest on public holiday Monday and lament that the football season is over!!

Go Raiders in Toyota Cup final!!

Certainly - secured good seats Sunday morning.

I take it you are an AFL Member too? Couldn't get mine to Monday but had friends who were front of queue so got great seats. Much easier this year with no Collingwood and a non-Victorian team for the first time since 2007. I believe they even sold tickets to Silver members with non-club support before it was sold out.

They were selling tickets to Silver members yesterday.

Carlton Club support friends get level P on internet at 9:01am Monday.

We got n14 which I thought was great. I am one of only five GWS club support full members!!

To get n14 on monday indicates these were returned tickets from packages.

N sales Sunday started from N20+ I was told. I don't even try for N now I can choose ... P is enough, easier than N, and you can easily get aisle seats. ;)

I am not so sure that is right serfy. I think they sell certain seats on Sunday and certain seats on Monday. I had others line up for me. They might also have different tix for internet and agency sales. Agree 2A or P as you call it is a great view but N has the advantage of being undercover too.

TBH I don't use my AFL membership much these days living in Canberra. Really only keep it up so that I can get GF tickets. Saturday will be my 18th consecutive AFL GF (counting 2010 as 2) and 9th NRL GF.

best weekend of the year.

I stand by my comment re N14 being 'returned' premium tickets from packages - I considered the separate allocations, but with the "Best Available seating", N was not available to Hawks/Sydney AFL support members by ~9:15 Sunday morning.

This will be my 21st consecutive year going to an AFL GF as a full AFL member - only the second to see the Hawks play.:-|

Go the Hawks! Better follow our moderator Serfty seeing our teams have all been knocked unless you support the Swans.
21 years of consistency is pretty amazing.

Was supposed to fly down to Melbourne tonight on Jetstar but flight got cancelled and now on qantas. Not a bad result.

Dont know mate. All I know is the blokes who lined up was first or second in he queue at her majesty's theatre and we sent me a text by 9.10 Monday saying we were n14 row G.

With respect to final tickets club supporters do not always end up with the better seats as I can attest for the first 2 finals this year was logged in by 9am best available GSS lucky to score level N and time level M only availability but when tickets opened to public Wednesday Ponsford stand availability level N. AFL hold premium tickets for general public so really is luck of the draw. Good luck to both teams.. Sitting on the fence this year :?:
