ANZ Rewards Travel Adventure Card

For people that hold this card, be interested in peoples intentions for transferring their points to VFF over this months special. Do you:
(1) Transfer this month (hopefully at end of month to include November spend) for the 30% bonus.
(2) Hang out until May and hope for an offer of 50% like it was earlier this year.
(3) Don't transfer to VFF at all.

I'm in the option 2 camp.
I transferred some already, then remembered that it might make sense to wait for May so leaving the rest in ANZ.

Loving my VFF points for domestic travel

My card will be long gone by May so transferred the other day to VFF with intention to on-transfer to KF.

Hanging out for my 75k point sign on bonus then it’s gone!

The email or phone call or whatever is needed to get my VFF# is surely taking a looooong time to come...

Do you have to retain this card until after you take the free flight? I want to book the flight for next year, but can cancel my card before then. Also it expires in April, does the annual flight have to be taken within the application-expiry year?
Thanks.

My experience was when I had my flight booked (by ANZ after feeding the details to them), that it was then booked with Virgin and that was that. I recall being able to modify my own seats and any other part of the booking, so my thoughts it was then out of ANZ's hands....meaning you could cancel your card prior to flight. That was my take.

I'm pretty sure you had to have your flight "booked" within the 12 month period rather than taken, but I'm sure it is in the T's and C's somewhere to clarify.

Looking up the T's and C's, as an aside I see this:

The complimentary flight is not eligible for Velocity Points and/or Status Credits earn.

I know this to be incorrect as I received points and SC's.

OK, just read the PDF they have linked and the very first line says:

1. Subject to these conditions, You are entitled to the following in each Year you hold an Eligible Account: a. one Flight. Flights must be booked before the end of each Year and unused Flights cannot be carried forward to subsequent Years. b. Two Lounge Passes. Unclaimed Lounge Passes cannot be carried forward to subsequent Years.

My read is that you could take the flight after your 12 months provided you book it within the 12 months.

Yes, unlike the direct Velocity free flights with eg Amex, it's booked by a travel agent (Pinpoint travel iirc) on your behalf as a standard booking that you then get access to modify or upgrade if you so fancy. You can even see how much they paid for it, which is nice to see when it's more than your annual fee...

I cancelled my card before I used the flight, which was fine, but you do need to remember to request the lounge passes before you cancel the card if you don't get those at the same time as you book the flight.

it's shame that you must book free flight 2 months in advance and it could be only in your name.

Has anyone been successful in either changing the name or date of flight after booking?

Am bit confused wondering if you guys can shed some light. I signed up for this card last month (received 3 weeks ago and doing some spending on it.) Signed up for the 75K velocity bonus. Have yet to reach the $2500 spend in 3 months.

Today I received an email from ANZ saying "welcome to ANZ Rewards, visit ANZ rewards to activate your account online...."

Can I confirm that basically what this means is:

a.) This card is earning ANZ travel points; &
b.) however the promo is for 75K Velocity: &
c.) I'm not actually earning velocity points per $ spent

Thanks in advace!

1. Yes you're earning ANZ Rewards day to day
2. But the sign up bonus is Velocity and goes straight to your Velocity account
3. You can convert ANZ Rewards to a number of things including Velocity

You are earning ANZ Rewards points which can be transferred to a number of different FF schemes. If you choose to transfer them to Velocity you can.

Hi guys,

I was wondering how long does it take ANZ to approve / decline my card application?
I applied last night, and submitted my pay slips etc

I also did not receive an email acknowledgement from ANZ about my application (But i took screenshots of my application number )

Was the card application process pretty much instant and pain free for you guys ?

depends on their workloads, day by day, week by week and so on. What happened yesterday is not likely to be the same today.
also depends on your details and whether they feel the need to check further, and how long that takes.

Thank you for your reply. I will have to be patient then.

Out of curiosity, how long after hitting the required spend did ANZ contact people to supply their Velocity number for the bonus points?
