ANZ Rewards Travel Adventure Card

It's booked like a regular "T" class commercial economy fare, so I suspect the same rules would apply to no-showing for a Getaway ticket you'd paid for. I can't say for sure, but I don't think anything would happen.

Thanks, was just a bit worried as I would have the ticket linked to my VFF account.

With regards to the $500 spend requirement to be eligible for the domestic flight, is that determined at the end of a statement period, or is it activated as soon as the spend is hit (i.e. mid-statement)?

I just booked my free flight (Melbourne GP next year), which was about 9 days before the year kicks over. Booked into T class, I called VA to add to my account and they offered me EconomyX. With regard the booking process, a little painful having to use telephone to a TA. Main thing is if there is no Getaway availability, you won't be going.

I just booked my free flight as well and redeemed the free lounge passes. I got them to link to my VA account during booking as they had my VFF details from the initial reward redemption.

I’m not sure how the offering of free ANZ travel rewards flights works. There were many getaway fares at the one way price (BNE_MEL) of $190 but I could only choose some of these for my free flight redemption. The fare does seem to be booked into a revenue class as my virgin account shows that I submit a points upgrade request. So, notwithstanding the T&C saying no points are earned, I’m hoping that I might get lucky and see a few points and SCs come my way.

Also, I think the lounge passes seem to be paper passes that could be transferable. No big deal either way. I have access for myself and a guest as VA Gold but the additional passes could be handy in case I travel with others and need to guest them in. Ideally I could provide the passes to my parter who doesn’t have status for any trips he takes without me. Has anyone received and used the passes yet?

Received yes, they were mailed to me about two weeks after I made the booking. They look pretty transferrable to me, which is good because as a Plat + holding an Amex I'm not short on lounge access and extra guest allowance. The ANZ issued ones look like they were made by using a cheap printer and laminator. They have a 5 digit serial number and expiry date in 12 months time. This is from the T&Cs:

  • Valid for a single visit, entry no more than two hours prior to departure time, subject to space availability
  • 18 y.o. + only unless with guardian. All other VA T&Cs apply

How long is it taking for the bonus points to come through on this card these days? My recollection was they came through quite quickly previously. Have signed up a month ago and met the spend requirement (PayPal deposit to IG Markets) on the first day.

There needs to be availability in 'T' class on the flights you want to book, which is one of many types of Getaway fare. You can search for this on ExpertFlyer to make things easier before calling. If you don't have ExpertFlyer, if you can see Getaway fares for sale via the VA website, you may be able to use the free flight for it, but if you can't see a Getaway fare, you won't be able to.

I’m coming up to the first year on my ANZ rewards adventures travel card and considering whether to keep this ongoing or cancel? The annual fee balances out the free flight, lounge passes and it’s good for overseas travel (I’ve already got 3 OS trips booked for 2020)

As a fairly new resident I’m new to churning here, I’m not re-eligible for an altitude card until June and recently got the Amex QF ultimate which I’ll cancel after I get the bonus points and use the lounge passes, so that would leave me with no card If I cancel the ANZ.

Is this card a keeper due to its benefits? Any other suggestions welcome. Thanks

I churn through lots of cards and see no reason for hanging on any longer than needed but I've kept this one for the O/S transaction fees exemption, the free flight and modest earning (when optimised with timing to transfer),. Also to ensure there is always "one" CC in case things go south....although I generally hold between 4 and 7 at any point in time.

Darn, realised I never used my free flight!

Still, I'm keeping this one for the forex free.

This card doesn’t do much for me. Will be cancelling as soon as the sign on bonus hits (if it ever does).

Has anyone held this and another ANZ rewards card (eg. black) at the same time?
Just wondering if it's been an issue having two cards crediting to the same ANZ rewards account.

How about changing the free flight - anyone had experience in doing so?

I'm just closing out the ANZ Travellers Rewards and ANZ Qantas Black (not the ANZ rewards). No problem. I've had in the past the ANZ Rewards and ANZ Qaantas rewards at the same time - no problems, but not the combination you have - I suspect it would be no problems based upon the T's and C's.

I've used the free flight with the Travellers card, but never had a need to change it. Once it is booked I would assume it is a matter of dealing with Virgin rather than ANZ.

I was told changes are possible with a fee. Cancellations are not

I keep it due to the Travel Insurance only. Combined benefit of only $250 spend qualifying requirement, and awesome customer service by the claims dept.
(Noting that this was from QBE or Allianz, not ANZ, but thats not the point).

if it wasnt for this, I would cancel it.

For people that hold this card, be interested in peoples intentions for transferring their points to VFF over this months special. Do you:
(1) Transfer this month (hopefully at end of month to include November spend) for the 30% bonus.
(2) Hang out until May and hope for an offer of 50% like it was earlier this year.
(3) Don't transfer to VFF at all.

I'm in the option 2 camp.

I just transferred today - I don't really expect VFF to be a main source of award flights so not really worried about maximising the points. I guess I'm sort of over the whole FF thing with the ever diminishing value.
