Apple iPhone 6 / 6 plus

Not being an Apple aficionado (I admit to having an iPad mini) I just don't get this 'must be the first to own an iThing' and queuing up for the dubious privilege. Feel sorry for those who feel the need to do this. I'm in Vancouver at the moment and honestly, I burst out laughing when I walked by an Apple store and there was a queue of maybe a hundred or so in the drizzle straining to buy.

Don't get me wrong, if you intend to buy a new phone, and are OK with iPhones, why not get one as soon as it's available (ie by order), but queuing for a day or more???

I'm in the SydneySwan camp (in more ways than one ... go, Swannies!!) I'm happy for the masses to beat the heck out of any new product and find the faults.

I do intend to buy an iPhone, large version, but can restrain myself for a while yet.

Indeed GO THE SWANNIES - hope the AFL reaches Canada and you managed to see last night's outstanding win.

My wife is very much a paid up member of the Apple fanatics club. She bought me and her the iPhone5 when it came out in Sep 2012. These 2 phones were recently the subject of the Apple recall because of the battery. Both of us took our phones in to the Apple store to get the battery swapped over. The techos managed to break both (yes BOTH) phones in the process and so they gave us brand new iPhone5s each. I thought great, a new phone! That will do me for a couple more years. My wife was horrified with my reaction - and brand new iPhone5 or not, she has gone to Apple today to try and get iPhone6.

Your wife has taken iPhone madness to a new level. :p. I'm waiting til my plan runs out in March.

Maybe I'm waiting. I do like the 6. Optus won't let me hold it though as clearly I'm going to steal it.

The Telstra courier has just delivered the phone to my home - much more civilised way of doing things ;)

Here are a couple of snaps showing the scale compared to my now dropped kicked Samsung SIII :D iphone 6 128GB.

Ha! you call THAT a drop-kicked Samsung? THIS is a dropped (kick) Samsung;

Strangely enough, the touch screen works perfectly well. Its been like this for 8 months or more, since I dropped it on the top RH corner. The pattern of fractures in the glass is quite fascinating ...

I visited an Apple Store today to try them hands on. I had previously ruled out the 6 plus, but having seen it today I'm now not as sure. It doesn't look as awkward as I thought it would be, so now I can't decide on which size to buy

My TR photos are going to be a whole better ..... the camera functions are very impressive!

Loving the pano option.

Question:
I am not sure how Telstra's upgrade policy will work as I got my phone before they brought in the 12 month upgrade facility. I might just have to cool my heels for a while.
Answer:
As I bought my phone before the 'pay $10 to upgrade after 12 months' offer started, I am not eligible. Another 12 months it is. Maybe I will buy a new case.

Probably not much help but you can re-contract within 90 days of your plan ending without penalty...so it's more like another 9 months

Thanks. Trouble is that in 9 months, the 'next big thing' will still be 2-3 months away, so might as well wait.

I'm going to get a 6 plus but will also have to pay Telstra a hefty sum to get out of my current 5S contract.
I had a play with it today in the Apple Store and think it's pretty cool. I don't have an iPad mini but I think once I have this I will never travel with my full size iPad again. It's surprisingly lightweight and the screen resolution is very good.

Maybe buy it outright and sell the other one? Good prices through ebay as long as it's unlocked.

Enough with the temptation already!

After SWMBO handled the 6 - she's thinking the 6+ would be the one for her .... LOL must be a ladies thing!

Na uh. I'm all for the standard 6, otherwise it'll be like having a conversation on my iPad...

I am thinking the same as you PF. Was planning to buy an iPad mini to replace my iPad, but am thinking that a 6 plus might just do the job when travelling. So the way I look at I'm actually saving money :p
