I've booked a Y ticket and thinking of upgrading to J.

With the bonus 50% SC deal, will my Bonus earn be calculated on original Y or upgraded J status?

Medhead, you can be our guinea pig so to speak.
Phone up QF telephone sales, and see if you can get a QF J ADL - MEL or J ADL - SYD and then the EK metal QF flight numbered F from MEL/SYD to NZ.
ADL - SYD - CHC, J then F brings up the error message, that a "class of travel is full or not available..."
Though the goss on here is that by doing the QF telephone sales, it can be done.
I mean to do this, but my plans are for later this year or into next, so if you are planning on doing it, do it first and let us know.
I am also an ADL based thing.

I'm doing another route from ADL in all J. have already booked. But it's not for you - all 737s. ;)

This isn't really an Aquire bonus topic. But reflecting on the options, I'm inclined to think you might be better to nest a J return to new zealand with an F return from NZ. I've been seeing business sale fares ADL-AKL if I search the route for economy flights. Those have been pricing around $1200 for the return trip, but the catch is ADL-east coast flights are in discount Y.

Basically something like ADL-xSYD-AKL (Y-, J), AKL-SYD-AKL (F), AKL-xSYD-ADL (J, Y-)
10, 80, 120,120,80,10 =420 SC for about $3000 (around $7/SC)

The T&Cs of the offer indicate it could be up to 8 weeks before bonuses are assigned. My first flight under the offer was 7-Feb, and no bonuses received yet.
So anyone planning a SR with an anniversary date within that 8 weeks probably should be careful yea? Might not credit in time to go towards their qualify/re-qualify.

I've found if you call you can often hasten the process.

Can someone please clarify that? I'm doing MEL - SYD - DFW - MSY in a couple of weeks - am I only going to get the 50% bonus SC's on the MEL - SYD?

Point one pooh I certainly hope not RSD

If you've completed the trip in time it should eventually turn out ok but might need a Red Roo assistance.

QF are highly efficient at back dating SC to the date of departure. Never experienced it myself but seem to recall reports that status adjustments are also made almost automatically.
It shouldn't be a problem.

I experienced it last year and it was absolutely seamless.

Thanks for that guys.

Also:

The T&Cs state fares must be purchased in Australia to be eligible for the 50% bonus if you were to book an ex NZ fare purchased in AU online (in NZD) that should be ok?

Does a flight that leaves Singapore on the evening of April 30, but lands in Australia on Sunday May 1st qualify?
I'm considering booking a flight to get the 50% bonus and the fine print says
"(d) travel between 12.01am (AEST) 27 January 2016 and 11.59pm (AEST) 30 April 2016."
Has anyone come across this problem? Many thanks

Earning is based on the date and time of departure. Provided the flight is purchased in Australia (and meets the requirements of an eligible flight), which I take to mean it is a return flight of a trip originating in australia, then you should get the bonus 50%.

Thanks Medhead, that is really helpful, I really appreciate your help.
Has anyone done this and had any troubles?

I booked one way ex CHC as the return ex BNE searches were not returning the later timed EK codeshare flights I needed (the return flights did not offer the "Aquire Deal" either when I searched them) Anyway, it's ticketed "081" and a QF flight No. and I purchased it in Australia so all good I'd hope.

I've read the Ts & Cs but this is still not crystal clear to me...

Does this apply to new bookings only?

I would love to take advantage of this offer but all my travel is booked for the offer period.

Register and book an eligible flight by 29 February 2016

The above is a little ambiguous since the order in which you must both "register" and "book" is not specified, and the only criteria is that you do it before Feb 29.

"Register then book" would be less ambiguous if it applied to new bookings only, but at the moment (to me) it's somewhat open to interpretation.
