Australia on top. England 7/294 and still another 36 to avoid follow-on.

Does Australia have enough time to get Englad out twice and score additional runs? Lyon is not doing anything.

P.S It would appear Kevin Pietersen was not out and Bresnan should have referred his dismissal on Friday as well. Poor use of the DRS by both teams but what is the excuse of the 3rd umpire?

Hmmm... Two more days to take three wickets, bat out another innings then dismiss the English side again?

Little bit of a scary prospect....

Woken up to be pleasantly surprised - pity Pieterson got some form and Bell continued his purple patch this series.

Can't see us bowling them out again in 2 days. Drawn match awaits

Unless of course Australia can get England out quickly tonight and then go for quick runs, say 120-150, for a 350+ lead and give themselves 4 sessions to bowl them out.

I think that going for quick runs is quite possible, but bowling them out in 4 sessions without rain less likely

I think you are right.

One of our biggest problems is a spin bowler who can win a match. Lyon is not that spin bowler. I know he taken a few wickets (none in this innings) but none of them to win a match. Swann to a 5-for in the first innings.

Looking forward to the first session tonight to see which way it swings.

Broad out for 32. Lyon finally gets a wicket but England at 8/338 have avoided the follow on.

Will be interesting to see the rest of the match develop.

Turned it on to see the last English wicket. Not surprisingly, a change in the batting line up given the unusual circumstances

Now to settle in to an interesting Australian batting card

England all for 368 so a first innings lead of 159 for Australia.

Australia will be looking to get England back in after tea and hoping a lead of 325-350.

If Australia had managed to do so, do you think it would've been wise to enforce the follow-on?

I think this will be interesting - they have a mere 2 days to bat and take 10 wickets. If they pile on another 250 runs they might have a chance, but from previous tests I don't give them a day to dismiss the English. It's a Herculean effort.

Depends on when they would have bowled out England the first time - the longer the first innings, the less likely - to ask bowlers to back up again would mean the batsmen had the upper hand.

I think that England will be defensive - it's in their best interest to reduce the runs, therefore increasing the risk that Australia will lose (by a draw).

Rogers gone for 12. Well they do need to play it like a 50 over one dayer. Pleased to see Warner has got their eye in. Australia now really 1/182. We need no less than 350, preferably 400.

Rogers out for 12 trying to force the pace. A shame as he playing well.

Australia 1/25 just before lunch with a lead of 182.

Warner caught out in the deep by Root for 41.

Australia 2/74 and look to be in total control.

Khawaja out for 24. 3/99 (or 3/258 in reality). Seems that Clarke may be a little worried about the weather forecast. He's come in now. Let's see some open shoulders lads

Watson has holed out to Pietersen for 18. 4/103. Off to bed soon anyway, so I'll be onto cricinfo in the morning

Smith run out for 19. In reality Clarke has run him out - Clarke never looked liked running but it wasn't his call. Smith was running to the danger end. 5/133, lead by 292.

I think they'll bat to tea so long as they have 320. Largest run chase at this ground has been 294 I think.

Having said that the rain is getting heavy enough for the covers to come out, so tea will be taken early. I'm off to bed. 5/137

The rest of the day has been abandoned. Australia 7/172 with a lead of 331.

More rain forecast for tomorrow.

Is there enough time to declare and get the victory? If they get any play in tomorrow then England will be under pressure and who knows what can happen in those situations.

An interesting BBC show last night here in Reykjavik. One of the guests was Phil Tuffnell who remembered being in 5 Ashes series without winning one.He suggested the Aussies of the time were the best team ever but that they knew it.
Recited an episode when he arrived at the crease to bat.Greeted by Ian Healey with-can I borrow your brain Phil?
Phil-Why?
Heals-because I'm building an idiot.

I heard it's going to rain till 4, considering batmen don't have any say in stopping for light anymore, Clarke needed to take the gamble yesterday and send England in. Will see what happens, but anticipate an early night and waking up to the result rather than staying up.
