Pushka what do you think of the renovations at the oval?

I have to put them into a context. Adelaide oval was always excellent for cricket. When they replaced the members area a couple of years ago I was pretty happy with the cricket facilities.

We are also football followers and we both hated AAMI stadium. It was a two hour exercise to get there by bus and a 90 minute exercise to get back. Having been to both Etihad and MCG stadiums in Melbourne we thought AAMI was a poor last in facilities. So far from the ground and lacking in atmosphere. Just a sterile kind of arena.

So the new development at Adelaide will be fantastic for football. Excellent views and a greater feeling of participation in the ground. So we are really looking forward to a winter of football and will probably attend many more matches than if it had stayed at AAMI.

So a thumbs up!

As far as it's design goes, I'm thinking more like a lucky horseshoe. And it's raining here right now - maybe that means luck for the Poms?

New Zealand robbed of victory by the weather yesterday. Surely the same thing could not happen to Australia?

New Zealand were robbed. But I think better captaincy may have allowed them to win before the weather finished the contest.

Could say the same about the Australian attack today, especially in the last session - seemed pretty blunt. Good on Harris to nail another wicket, but even with the new ball it seemed rather unexciting.

At least they made West Indies follow on and in the end unlucky.

Why didnt Clarke enforce the follow on? Game could have been over already.

It's not the gentlemanly thing to do.

It seems that England have finally come to the game, so perhaps they'll start playing at the WACA, but who knows!

The bowlers needed a break. The third test begins on 13 Dec in Perth. If he enforced the follow on and England batted 2 days, the quicks would go to Perth a bit jaded with hardly any break in between. As it was Clarke left himself 2 full days to bowl England out and left Warner stranded on 83.

Agree with others that the Australian attack was pretty blunt today. The pitch is very quickly turning into a fast bowlers graveyard, very slow and low. If the 2nd new ball doesn't get the wickets then the responsibility will fall onto Lyon as the main spinner, and he bowled rubbish today - wrong line and too short all day even though there is plenty of spin. Could be another slow grind of a day if they don't get early wickets - weather permitting.

Australia in the past loved to enforce the follow on against England but a few bad experiences means Australia would like to win the game in 4 or 5 days rather then in 3.

Adelaide was pretty hot the other day. And the bowlers needed a break with WA looming. But I'm thinking that also assumes he thought he had the Adelaide match all wrapped up. Strange things can happen in Adelaide. Even rain. Not currently raining but several layers of cloud and so dark and dull.

Now raining.

Not currently raining? It's been raining since before you posted this. It's been raining on and off since 1 am this morning.

And current means "belonging to the present time; happening or being used or done now"
So not sure what your point is - it wasn't raining when I posted.

And strange as it may seem, just because it is raining or not, in 1 place doesn't mean it is raining in the CBD. And the CBD is all that matters.

I work about 300 metres from the Oval. Sadly it is currently raining.

My point was that it was currently raining when you posted that based on the time stamp of the post.

The state of the sky at that time clearly indicated rain.

There was no rain at the Adelaide (Kent Town) weather station recorded between 5AM and 7.30AM despite the so called state of the sky, BTW have you heard of Virga?

Just about spat my tea all over my new laptop with the mirth in these comments on cricinfo:

Looks like some spirited rear-guard shot making today, interspersed with some terrible decisions (for the English).

Can Monty and Anderson bat for 3 sessions - surely they jest :o:
