ATO Credit Card Points Summary

About 5 days so put them on your do not call them and be patient register. I thought they might have been choking with the many times the credit limit points payout.

Mine earned at 1:1 in late May last year. Since it's personal tax, I won't find out again until May this year, hopefully someone else has a more recent test.
Thanks doctau!
Does anyone perhaps have a more recent example of the HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card earning 1 QFF point per $1 for payments to government agencies?

Anyone paid an ATO bill with NAB Qantas Rewards Premium card recently. I just paid a $10k bill on the understanding that I would get 1.5 pts per dollar. A bit worried after reading some recent posts on this thread. Have another $10k due in a week's time and don't want to pay an Amex fee for no points earn.

FWIW, all the Amex-issued direct earn cards appear to pay 0.5 points per $1 with government agencies, however your card's T&Cs look like you may be OK. Hopefully the bank-issued Amex cards are still honouring the full rewards points for now...one wonders if/when this will change to match the Amex-issued cards though.

Thanks mbeder, I cancelled my Platinum Amex as soon as they reduced the ATO earn rate to .5pts per dollar.

My Westpac issued Amex used to give me the full points earn on ATO payments, but they changed it to .75 pts per dollar a few months back.

First time I've used the NAB card for tax, so will find out soon enough I guess.

Although the NAB T&Cs say government fees and charges are excluded, the Westpac terms also said that and still earned points for ATO payments. Westpac has now changed them to specifically state that ATO payments earn .75pts.

Fingers crossed.

I received points on my NAB Premium (Velocity) Amex card this month, so would assume they are still paying on the QF card too.

The WOW card has some ambiguity as from the March statement. So, does that mean ATO OK up till end of Feb, or what? I have a small 2.5K payment to make. Or, is WOW card an ex ATO option?

I'm taking it as open slather until my statement in March is issued. I'm in that statement period and my points balance online is still showing 1 to 1 well past the 2.5k mark.

Thanks for the update, my statement cycle doesn't come around until the 16th so I was keen to hear of any current updates

Just wondering, at the moment, I only have Citi Plat and Amex Plat charge. In regards to the ATO payments, Amex is the only one that will receive any points and I understand it's cough value using it for ATO payments compared to other cards that earn on ATO spend.

Since I have no choice, is it worth it paying the 1.45% surcharge to get 0.5pt/$ (works out to be 2.9c/mile) if you have no other cards? I would only be using it for KF miles in J or F/R.

why do you have no choice? Can you not apply for other cards or are you not allowed to ( what I mean is some people are limited in who they can bank with and get credit cards from) . Or do you just not want another piece of plastic.
For me approx 3 cents/point is more than double what I am happy to pay and I too use my points on SQ J and F

No I have applied for ANZ and declined last month without being asked for additional documents, just applied for CBA diamond and waiting for that to be processed.
When I wrote no choice, what I meant is currently I have no choice before the upcoming Quarterly Bas payment due at the start of March. It is likely I may not be approved for the CBA, and the missus has recently started a new job so her chance of getting another card right now is low.

What about HSBC Platinum Qantas Visa - it should pay 1 for 1 at ATO (unless I'm mistaken)

Yep understood .I got declined for Bank of Mel signature...nearly fell off my seat when the letter arrived. So just applied for NAB velocity premier at lunch time, approved immediately!! Mysteries of the modern world

I don't really rate QF that high anymore since it cost a lot more points to redeem J/F cf SQ/CX etc. So I don't really go out of my way to earn it.

I long for the day that I will get approved instantly from a CC application. Are you self employed?

yes self employed. I've had a couple of instant approvals over the years which is why the BOM signature was such a shock. Infact first time I've been declined !!
