Australia v India Test Series: General Discussion

Compelling viewing. Never thought the Aussies would be in a position to be chasing less than 200 to take a 2 test lead. BUT I have many memories of failures to chase these types of totals. Hoping for the best & guess it is an opportunity to get into Aussie cricket folklore.
Thought Hayden was out of line with his comments re Lyon being worried about his spinning finger-don't think Lyon has given aany indication that he is not up for the fight. Actually interesting to hear Clarke & Hayden change their tune re Smith opting to take the new ball. Overall I find Clarke to be a pain to listen to.

DRS review for Warner. To me it shows pitching outside the line. But ball tracking shows it hitting the stumps. That's debatable :p 2/42 Warner got 17. 9th time Ashwin has dismissed Warner

Incorrect umpire decision yet the system lets the batsman be out & the team loses one of its challenges-there has to be a better way?

hmmm 2 down...ball is spinning viciously for the spinners and keeping low for the pacemen...I fear India are the favourites atm, with Australia 2 down currently :(...of course, I hope I'm WRONG!!

Not according to the technology.
No, the technology did not consider that the decision was incorrect, it only reviewed on the basis that the umpire had considered the laws of the game. The field umpire got a basic law of the game incorrect

Hmm. What responsibility has the third umpire in such cases? Surely the DRC should not have called the pitching decision as umpire's call since it 'seemed' to be cm out side the line. Basic laws of cricket as you say.

But great competition to watch! :)

Everytime there is a new post, I think another wicket has gone down!! :(

"Ball tracker" said that enough of the ball was in line with the stump when it pitched. Nothing to do with the batsman playing a shot or not, if that's what you're getting at.

I may be wrong. Maybe my tv is at a different angle to yours but it appeared that it was outside the off stump-I don't recall any commentator or vision confirming what you say

it appeared that it was outside the off stump

I agree. But that's what "ball tracker" came back with. With SMarsh's, it would have obviously said that it pitched outside the line, but that wouldn't have mattered, because, the rules.

And a bit of controversy with Smith's dismissal, now... India have a case to argue that Smith didn't waste their final review because of some gesture from off the field.

Have to agree that it was a tough call not to review as the later vision appears to show that it was missing. Steve Smith was on the opposite side of the wicket and not at the right view for the point of impact. Still, Kohli can't start complaining any more about his own decision.

Are we watching the same game :o - or are you meaning the Marsh dismissal ?

I was just about to post 'let's see if MM can justify his place', then the DRC! Phew.;)
Dinner will have to wait!
