Australian Cricket Season 2023-2024

I think it's the other way round for 2nd test in a row?

Record chase needed but 2 days to get there. Should just about get there if they can survive 150 overs and they should just about have enough runs by then.
Ha - England praying for rain was probably true at the time… but now it’s anyone’s to win. Big chase for the Aussies, but as you say - not impossible with the right handling.

Cheers,
Matt.

Good to see Broad and Anderson back in the batting today. Broad has played the Pantomime Villain wonderfully over the years even if he got carried away sometimes, as well as brilliant bowling. Well done. Vale.

Bad day for us yesterday. I think we are stuffed, but maybe an interesting two days.

I’m getting somewhat annoyed at the ridiculous “umpires call” decisions re LBWs. If the DRS shows ball hitting, clipping stumps then it should be out. Tennis has resolved this issue a long time ago.

By the time Australia get to Adelaide and Brissy in January 23 Plum Warner will be in ancient history ..,;

I can’t be the only one looking at the results from the World Cup in India and laughing???
England stone motherless last 😂

Mind you we play them next and the law of averages says they can’t keep sucking so bad, indefinitely.

Also, still doesn’t seem right to look at that points table and not see the Windies there. 😞

And keep in mind that the West Indies didn't get an "invitation" this time round. Teams come and go, and this round is not going as planned for England. Perhaps they need a 50-overs version of Baz-Ball that worked so well for them in test matches

Yep, the Windies had to go via a qualifying tournament and they played dismally in that and were eliminated. Sri Lanka and the Dutch went through to the main comp

And next World Cup, I wonder which teams will need to succeed at the qualifying round? mind you, b y then England and the Windies may be back on top of the pile.

Next World Cup has 14 teams instead of 10 which this current one has.
South Africa and Zimbabwe as hosts get auto entry and then the top 8 performed over the next 3 years so you would think the Windies should get straight in. The final 4 spots will come from the qualifiers. The Windies would have to really fall off a cliff not to make the next World Cup

Maybe England will be challenging for one of those 4 qualifier positions :p

My English cricket friends are arriving in Adelaide in a couple of weeks. They have requested we don't talk about cricket.

Yeah nup
We are looking forward to similar discussions with our English family in December. The ones we presented them with something they've always longed for - (a replica of) the Ashes Urn. 18 months and it still adorns their mantelpiece.
