Loopholes for what? The premier was asked twice the other day about masks in gyms other than group classes. She kept saying it wasn't necessary because they have 'COVID safe plans'.

Well listing a business as an exposure site that does not even exist in that shopping centre, or even suburb, is likely to be noticed quite quickly.

I dare say there were some puzzled people contacting NSW Health to draw the error to their attention..

It is impossible to exercise with exertion with a mask and that guidance is so ambiguous, who could really blame the gyms.

If they were that worried, they should have just paused the gyms for a week while they tried to gain control, but clearly they weren't that worried when they made that call..... stuffed either way really...

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced new covid rules for Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour on Wednesday that made wearing masks indoors compulsory for the next week.

This included workplaces and at gyms with Ms Berejiklian stating masks should be worn by those attending group classes with numbers limited to 20 people.

But after gymgoers battled through gruelling fitness classes wearing masks and receiving complaints that people “couldn’t breathe” – several gyms have uncovered an apparent loophole in the rules.

The NSW Health website states “you can also remove your mask when you are doing strenuous exercise” – except when you are in a gym class, or a dance class at an indoor recreation facility.

The reasons to leave home need to be expanded to include - seeking medical treatment, getting tested and getting vaccinated.

I dont live in one of the 4 LGAs but did got to the office on a few days (thankfully not via Public Transport). We have been WFH, office will remain closed until end of next week.

i watched that program.The driver was obviously trying to deflect all blame.As a driver for OS aircrews he would have been classified as a high risk worker and so would have been 1b which began on 22/3.The first death from the AZ clots was reported on 126/4.But because she had multiple comorbidities it was early May when the AZ link was confirmed.
So the driver saying he hadn't got the AZ vaccine because of his family history of clots doesn't pass the pub test.
Similiarly his claim of catching it at the Cafe is bunkum.Those positives from the Belle Cafe were positive after him.

I'm talking about the practice that gyms are seemingly developing its own guide as to what exercises amount to strenuous exercise and thus no longer have to wear a mask indoors.

Dr Chant just confirmed that the Limo driver is not definitively linked to the Aircrew.

She also stated the genomic strain is only similar to a strain in the USA which is different from the earlier statement that it matched perfectly.

ie Earlier advice: "But it does match perfectly a sequence that's been uploaded from the US so that fits with that plausible hypothesis."

She also confirmed that Limo man being patient zero is still just a hypothesis.





Baulkham Hills case after further 7 day blood testing has been ruled out as a recent case. (This is good news as otherwise it may have meant strain was in circulation earlier).

The premier's statements match exactly what is written above! We've been through this in Victoria....what is 'strenuous exercise'...I think it's obvious that includes 'cardio' right?

I don't see where it says no masks because "gyms have covid safe plans."

Anyway its pretty pointless to the rest of AFF forum. If one wants to follow the purpose of the rules they can exercise with a mask or pause on their gym exercise for a week (now two weeks). If one wants to follow the letter of the law, then there will always be room for loopholes.

The new purpose built quarantine facility to be built in Victoria has now been confirmed for Mickleham, and not Avalon.

Reasons given include that Avalon is not a sewered area, and that also Avalon has protected wetlands.

It is also intended to open up 500 beds as quickly as possible an up to another 600 soon after.

Swimming pools not included in the list. My local pool is telling everyone that they must wear mask when walking around the facility but can take them off to swim. There was 100% compliance when I was there yesterday. Anyone who turns up without a mask is refused entry but can buy a mask at reception for $2.
