Tougher restrictions = Louis Vuitton shut, but leave Gucci open?🤪😱😂

Berejiklian flags tougher restrictions as NSW passes 1000 cases

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has hinted tougher lockdown measures are likely after the state recorded 97 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases.

Ms Berejiklian warned the number of cases would likely be higher tomorrow.

"There is no doubt that the numbers are not where we would like them," she said.

The Premier's concession comes as Sydney's current outbreak surpassed 1,000 cases.

Up to 51 of the new cases could have been infectious while in the community.

We will not hesitate to hesitate some more here in NSW…

NSW based and my local drive through clinic was formerly managed by NSW health. It was a QR code check in and all very seamless.
Went this morning for a test and it is now run by Laverty - they are using paper pathology forms you handwrite and you also label the tube yourself. Seems like a step backwards on a number of fronts.
Probably have needed to call in the reserves, and they don't have direct access to the Health system. The last time we were tested in Sydney by health staff they were using paper forms and had some staff doing data entry. They have a QR system that you need to access through your camera that enables you to register for the results.

Depends on provider.

Laverty is definitely backwards with handwritten forms. No doubt some hard to read phone numbers so results don't come in a timely fashion.

St.Vincents health is better.
You give one person your mobile no and they text you a link to an online form.
Fill it out and hit submit.
Then you get a reference number on your phone.

Second person enters that into another terminal, prints out labels and sends you to nurse

The seemingly preferred NSW Health leak source has today gone with:

There's actually even an earlier leaker.
A comedian/ex-NRL player who has been accurate with the next days numbers at around midnight.

Relevant to exposure sites outside of he Greater Melbourne Boundary, Cowes and San Remo sites have just been added as Tier 1 Sites.

PS. The San Remo Fishermans Coop does terric fish n'chips (combined with a great view) and so that was probably why the case was there.

There was a question about Tik Tok guy in the press conference today. It seemed they weren't too bothered by the leaking. So if it continues the next day's case number can probably be had late in the preceding day.

The number of cases each day not isolated while infectious in NSW. A 7 day trendline is also shown.

Has anyone else noticed that NSW no longer mentions the 'mystery cases' aka unlinked cases that NSW contact tracing cannot work out for close to 4 weeks now?

Are they still being published - that would be a good graph to overlay with the 7 day avg from the above graph.

Previously (last December) the State Govt mantra was until there are zero mystery cases then Northern Beaches will not re-open, now it is out & about community cases. Suggests that a mystery infection where someone has stayed home except for essential shopping is no longer considered an issue.

This is now the 4th outbreak since early December that we've not found the outbreak source:
# 2 from last December
# May 2021 - Eastern Suburbs'fund manager who was a close contact with Dominic Perrotet (no need for lockdown)
# June 2021 - Eastern Suburbs' limo driver who did not catch it from CV negative FedEx crew.

Looking at the Eastern suburbs-only map for the index cases for May & June - the areas overlap around 85%. Makes you wonder if post-quarantine whether the fund manager or his partner changed cafes?

And this also means more movement of ‘essential’ workers around the city than is probably really needed….

Luxury brands Gucci and Louis Vuitton are 'essential' under NSW COVID restrictions…

Despite the New South Wales lockdown being extended by at least two weeks, there is still much confusion about what is considered "essential" shopping.

There are very few reasons why residents of Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour are allowed to leave their homes under the state's COVID-19 restrictions.

One of them is to shop for food or other "essential" goods and services.

But the meaning of that word is being stretched to include designer handbags, luxury watches, $10,000 dresses, trendy sneakers, plush toys, cosmetics, fancy stationery and the latest video games.
What's the issue? Just ask the NRL WAGs about what is 'essential'!

The press conferences are chalk and cheese - NSW seems chaotic, no key messaging, pleading with people, helicopters. Victoria has key facts and messages down clearly and Jeroen is across the detail. Brad Hazzard in NSW adds nothing to the conferences whatsoever.

People all over Sydney yelling at their TVs for the government to go further. The current measures have stopped exponential growth but are not stopping growth and no one has any confidence about the end date of 31 July. The frustration is immense.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

So how can this be explained. The removalists who have managed to shut down Victoria having entered there first. They then travelled to SA and apparently one was symptomatic while in SA. Spent five hours unloading house in McLaren Vale, attend two service stations then back out, yet no one in SA, as of today's report, has so far tested positive. 🤷‍♀️

numbers not going in right direction.......so why not change something.

They say evaluating every hour, well hmm how about moving towards full lockdown, this lockdown-lite not cutting it seems.

But I'm no CHO.
In one of the weekend's media briefings Gladys let slip that she 'listens to the best advice from Health, senior advisors, business advisors & private sector experts'.

What she acts on...

Pure luck. McLaren Vale is not in the jinxed northern or western suburbs of Melbourne. 🤣 Did masks play a role? Timing? Maybe even though symptomatic, by the time they reached SA, they mightn't have been as infectious?

Always found it odd that restrictions apply to all retail here in Victoria (e.g. JB is C&C only) but Costco can remain open and sell all sorts of items like TVs and Computers alongside food
In Canada, I think those non-essential aisles get blocked off in Walmart and Costco.
