Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Dan begging people to come forward for vaccination, over 50k Pfizer appointments remain un booked for the next week. You'd think demand would be up. He lead again with NSW bashing referencing spread to NZ, neglecting that is a failure of NZ border controls since Sydneysiders cant just wander into NZ.
Trying to deflect from the fact that his own 'harder and faster' lockdowns aren't working either

Thank you Pfizer and Astra Zeneca.

Thank you Australian tax payers :)(especially from Pfizer who’s execs are buying small islands as we speak 😂)

Apparently in the gathering there were naughty W/Sw sydneysiders

Yes totally that was my point - there is non compliance absolutely everywhere it knows no state v suburban boundaries.

Unfortunately in Sydney there is a huge social divide right now with LGA hot spots which has been rotten bad luck - the virus doesn’t really care!

825 new cases and only 3 deaths. The case numbers are irrelevant now, as we are not seeing an upwards trend in deaths, which is good news and shows vaccines are our way to living with Covid.
Someone needs to tell Dan, Mark and Anna.

8 cases in ACT. All in isolation during infectious period and all linked to known cases.

CMO admits that numbers might be artificially low as now report cases until 8pm the day before. This is to allow additional information about cases.

They have to allow interchanges somewhere. central is the most obvious point.

NSW a police state in all but name now.
Or - a democratically elected government that is using the resources it has available during a pandemic. This is no USSR.

Which is exactly what we have now, just with major restrictions on our ability to live our lives.
I don't know about that. A family member is undergoing chemotherapy as we speak. That may likely not have been possible if case numbers had been unrestrained and staff were absent, or the hospital was being used for covid cases.

85 in ICU, 76 no vaccine, the other 9 had a single dose.

Yawn. Don't meant to belittle the suffering, but almost all would've been eligible quite some time ago. Wishing them all well for recovery.

Unfortunately the pandemic has shown lots of 'missed opportunities'. Aside from those physically unable to get to an airport, most Aussies had two to three months warning to get home at the start of the pandemic before borders were closed. Over Christmas/New Year when caps were stable there were more opportunities. But people had all sorts of reasons why they chose not to. 'Being eligible' and 'having the opportunity' doesn't always lead to action. Finding out it's 'too late' or 'you made the wrong choice' often does lead to action.

NSW positivity rate is 0.66% of tests - I guess another new record.

ACT plans to keep lockdown until 0 for the usual whole infectious period (14 days)

Considering Sydney is having 600+ covid positive people added to the city every day, all isolating at home - what would be the difference in letting Sydney based overseas travellers come home now?

How are they more dangerous that people we know are definitely positive?

Of the 825 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night,
290 are from Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD),
253 are from South Western Sydney LHD,
69 are from Sydney LHD,
65 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD,
61 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD,
38 are from Western NSW LHD,
18 are from Northern Sydney LHD,
14 are from Far West LHD,
two are from Southern NSW LHD,
one is from Hunter New England LHD
one is from Illawarra-Shoalhaven LHD, and
one is from Central Coast LHD, and
12 cases are yet to be assigned to an LHD.

that's already been discussed on the prediction of international travel thread already........its similar to the plan B that I raised back in June (possibly)

And in Victoria lockdowns this year have caused more deaths than covid.
“Eight teenage girls have committed suicide in the first seven months of this year, a marked increase in the number of young women taking their lives in a tragic toll being closely watched by the Victorian Coroners Court.”

There has been a lot of deflection from our local dictator. Forgetful too.
Wait until he hears that it started in China and got to Antarctica!
It can't have started there. They're his mates.

If all the public servants are locked down, will the country actually work better? I always had a theory that you could totally remove the army, navy and air force, and it would take 2 years before DoD would notice. CASA would enjoy the peace of not having to deal with pesky aviators.

In any case, time to restrict SYD arrivals to NSW residents (or provide 'red flight' connections).

No point wasting a HQ spot for someone when they're going to have to redo HQ in their destination state.

Because NSW Hotels are for NSW.

A question is when Victoria gives up on covid-zero would they release some more contentious restrictions for example curfew......???

Another question is when would Victorian authorities give up??? 150???

Deaths aren’t instantaneous, they lag cases by 2-4 weeks. If we’re still in single figure deaths after a couple of weeks then things are looking good.

Protest article

From my quick read - Melbourne winning (ie bigger protest established) at the moment.

Has anybody mentioned the protest currently happening in Melbourne.

Police checkpoint on the M1 northbound near Newcastle

Looks a bit like some kind of circular metal
When is the photo from as I turned off the exit before and it was overcast.

Edit: I found the video, I was thinking of going to Morisset which is the exit in the picture but doubt traffic would have been too bad considering how quiet it was leading up to this area.
