But tourists won't know that.
Oh, I absolutely agree with the airport arrivals testing station. It’s pathetically undermanned for the peak periods of flights and it’s opening hours are terrible.
The drive through stations though are mostly locals though and people just don’t seem to do their research or show any initiative.

I'd presumed that walk through place was still open at the Stadium. What do tourists without cars do?

The one at Mile End. Apparently it was very quick. It was closed down earlier this year.
Yes, that was awhile ago.
They should just simply put more resources into the airport testing hub. With other centres being quite they could easily pool their resources

Yes but that would require planning and common sense and they've only had months to do that. Just like why people don't have to isolate after the test given its just a 12 hour turnaround. 🤷‍♀️ The queues at RAH the only walk in look awful.

One word “Business”
We had several high ranking managers who have avoided visiting here whilst “wait for result” was the flavour of the month and plenty of other companies the same. They need to fly in, get straight to their appointments and often fly out again the same day. We had 2 from SYD arrive yesterday morning, attend a meeting and depart before their test results came back. Hearing many similar stories

Test skipper Pat coughmins was a close contact of a positive person at dinner last night and some talk he may be sent in to isolation and be withdrawn from the test due to start today
Some may say why shouldn’t coughmins be able to eat out. But given the context, I’m surprised this situation was allowed to develop. Cricket Australia dropped the ball on this one. IMO.

Starc and Lyon were at same restaurant but seated outside. Could have been very embarrassing to replace 3 players

12 hours is best case. Not uncommon for tests in NSW to take 48 hours + when there is a surge in testing - and I'm sure the same in any other state doing over 100K tests a day.

Yes. I heard about delays today for interstate but SA so far is reliably 12 hours.

I'm wondering how many NSW venues, particularly licensed ones, will continue with requiring patrons to be fully vaccinated. There was a lot of talk over the period from Oct 11 (freedom day pt 1) to Dec 14 in NSW about who would continue with this after Dec 15, and that it could actually be a determining factor for people looking at where to shop / eat / drink, whether the condition applied... Perhaps it's just less relevant now with the vaccination rate where it is.
Can’t speak for licensed venues but I’m at my hairdresser now and they are only taking fully vaccinated clients. Appointments cancelled for all those unvaxxed for foreseeable future.

The antivaxers will be easy to spot in the supermarket.
I have noticed a marked improvement of coiffure in the outpatient clinics since reopening 😀

there are several test stations within a 5 minute drive that have no queues.

All well and good if you are local with a car or a visitor has hired a car but you may be surprised to hear that not everyone drives and even if they do not everyone hires a car when taking a holiday/work travel, many are happy to grab a uber/taxi/bus/train/limo from the airport to their hotel and then walk or use PT for duration of their stay.

So access to a walk in facility upon arrival at airport or within a block or two of ones CBD/Holiday Area accommodation is important, as its not economical (if it is even possible) to use a taxi to go through a drive through test facility especially when the wait time is hours.

Outside greater Sydney this is true, but don't know anyone in Sydney metro who has waited more than 24 hours this week.

Just came back form a work xmas lunch, boss was tested at 6am this morning at Ryde, his result came through whilst we were doing secret Santa at 3pm - he is daring a Qld border crossing on Saturday.

I have complained constantly that the airport testing station requires more staff and better infrastructure. I do think they are poorly advertised too, many passengers could head to their accommodation and get a test in the area rather than wait in line at the airport
For those of us that live here and do have a vehicle there is no way I’d be waiting more than 1/2hr at the airport though when there are other stations around the corner
