Strange? Simply an accurate 'characterisation' of what happened surely? Nothing to do with what happened in Australia.

Todays positive numbers similar to yesterday and day before, the daily doubling of numbers seems to have plateaued over the weekend. Huge test numbers driven but all that pre-departure testing.

Would be good to have the breakdown of hospitalizations by variant - a nurse friend working in covid ward at Concord says all those in ICU at Concord are Delta.

I just noticed that NSW uses the vaccination rate of 16+ as their main criteria. Do you have a combined 12+ vaccination rate?

Tasmania now reporting both 16+ and 12+ vaccination rates.

But with just 7 cases from tomorrow we have a mask mandate indoors.

The only number I'm interested in reading about is "Really sick people"

NSW, Vic and the ACT should be excellent test cases for this. There are few other jurisdictions in the world as large as the three with such high vaccination rates. If the sky isn’t falling in after 4ish weeks, then we’ll know we’re done with this charade.

79 local cases in QLD.

Pinched this from ABC. Scomo is saying the right things, in my opinion. Hopefully states are listening too and hear the sway of public opinion which I feel isn't in favour of lockdowns or onerous restrictions.

"One of the key messages is, yes, we're going to need to continue to calibrate how we manage this virus and how we live with this virus in the face of Omicron."

"But we're not going back to lockdowns. We're not going back to shutting down peoples' lives.

"There will be other variants beyond Omicron and we have to ensure, as a country, and as leaders around the country, we are putting in place measures that Australians can live with.

"What that means is we have to move from a culture of mandates to a culture of responsibility. That's how we live with this virus into the future.

"As a country, we have got to get past the heavy hand of government and we have got to treat Australians like adults and we all have our own responsibility in our communities and for our own health."

NSW running radio adverts this morning spruiking personal responsibility for keeping covid safe, getting vaccinated and getting boosted. Scomo is taking lead from Dom it appears.
