Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

It isn't what the airlines want, in the case of Qatar and likely others, but the requirements of the final country. So now, you can fly to the UK on Qatar without PCR but not Qantas I think.
Just been looking at the QF site, and it seems to align with the general thrust that pre-departure tests depend on where you are flying to. So for us to the UK via DRW, it does not seem necessary to have a pre-departure PCR test following the changes this weekend, but to have booked a Day 2 lateral flow test after arrival in UK. Will no doubt depend on transit requirements when flying via asian or middle eastern hubs (eg SIN, HKG, DXB).

Damn. Son who returned from UK last night positive RAT. Has had PCR. Had booster around 15th. Feels fluey. Isolating at home separately from the family.
Suspect that will be the norm now - at least one person picking up the virus when O'S. Hope his symptoms don't get worse and the rest of the family stay negative.

Thankyou. The timing suggests he caught it the last day/night before travel, so around 2-3 days ago. I think he said they stayed at a hotel close to the airport before an early morning flight out.

SA Premier in iso after close contact dinner with daughter, who subsequently tested positive.
He says he's in quarantine for 7 days but don't think he realises that only applies to actual positives - he is supposed to do 14 days as a close contact - but Apparently they changed it.

All of a sudden a family friend of ours is thrust into the leadership after just a month or so back being about 3rd or 4th in line
Interesting.

Dan is a family friend and when Chapman got “booted” about a month or so back he claimed the Deputy Leadership. He now gets a week at the top 🤣

I think SA Premier not letting go of the reins....according to news.com.au

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall has been plunged into isolation after his daughter tested positive to Covid-19.

Mr Marshall said late on Saturday he had dinner with her Thursday night was therefore a close contact.

“I have gone straight to get a PCR test at one of our many testing sites and will undertake my 7-day isolation period, as so many South Australians are also doing,” he said in a brief statement.

“I have no symptoms and am feeling well.

“I will continue to chair the daily Covid Ready Committee meetings and continue to lead our pandemic response.

“I thank all South Australians who are doing the right thing and isolating if they have Covid or are a close contact.”

So was the dinner 3h59m or longer?

If only SA had adopted the national definition he probably wouldn’t be in covid jail.

Decided to stuff around doing a PCR test early in the week in the hope that it comes back positive so I can start the process of getting a recovery certificate.

Tested Monday, received this yesterday;

“Your COVID-19 PCR sample is no longer suitable to be tested and no result can be provided. If currently symptomatic, assume you are positive and arrange rapid antigen or repeat PCR swab confirmation as appropriate.”

That was time well spent 🙄
