Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Quite likely so.

Looks like somewhere in the UK might take a crown, as unofficially approx 200,000 Omicron infections were expected in the UK yesterday.

Might be food for thought for open slather opening up in NSW right now.

But, of course, time will tell...

Even from an economic perspective the new wave is taking its toll. Wont someone think of the pret a manger

Fanny’s AKA The Argyle in Newcastle has taken the crown as the biggest Omicron transmission event.

I think you’ll be right 😉

I had to get my PCR test to travel to QLD today and was turned away from 4 locations around the city. Ended up getting in at the uni but it was a 2 hour wait.

Going to be big test numbers tomorrow - and likely many more cases.

Once I get my result I should probably head straight to Queensland before anyone changes their minds ;)

Sent my wife to get a test >3hr wait.
Will send her to see the grandchild in QLD now as Christmas is looking dodgy for a border crossing.

My usual drive up and out in 5 mins took an hour yesterday. Then 30 hours to get the result.

I'll tell you what the Sydney train strikes may well have created many super spreading train transmission events - insane - people packed in like sardines in the stations and the carriages were a claustrophobic's nightmare.... surely the unions could have delayed their strike action....!

When they asked I was worried if I said it was for travel I would be put to the bottom of the pile.

I told the truth, and much to my surprise, she said she'd mark it as urgent. I've allowed 48 hours which hopefully is enough.

I have to get a travel PCR to go to LHR on Monday. I’ve decided not to risk any of the local places due to volume and will drive to SYD to get it.

You can get it at the airport before the flight, Histopath. 90 min turnaround
Yes I’m aware but given that I have a 2 plus hour drive to get to the airport and am in the Centre of the current Omlcron transmission in Australia with 4+ hour queues at the local Histopath Centre I think it’s safest to go the day before far away from here.

DIL had the same quandary yesterday. And the wobbles about actually going to the UK. Live 90 minutes from Adelaide airport and have a domestic connection to get to Melbourne. I haven't heard if their results are back in time for flight this Arvo and don't want to bother them.

Well, we will be quarantining our Premier if so, and he was on the table next to ours. No mask. Even walking out through the crowd. 🤷‍♀️😱😂

QLD asks hundreds of casual contacts into isolation for 14 days but again waves PM in who was also a casual contact…. With zero isolation asked… Seriously?

The PM said the QLD CHO approved this because he is fully vaccinated and had 2 negative tests….

Cool - so this rule needs to apply to everyone.

Almost all of us are double vaxxed, loads are triple and I’m sure all would be happy to get a test to get out of an isolation instruction.

Absolute garbage.

And people are wondering why people aren’t slavishly following directions anymore.

Welcome back to insanity. All these mad negative test demands have put extreme pressure on testing centres in Melbourne.

Friends needed a test for actual clinical reasons. Turned up at 8:04am for a test at a centre that opened at 8am. Turned away due to over capacity. Went to the next one and in a queue over 100 deep about 15 minutes later.

This is all a result of unnecessary burden on public testing systems being overwhelmed by people with no symptoms for pre travel tests which other governments are demanding.

So, a reminder not to check in, I guess.

It's quite a terribly thing... It seems when I use my camera to scan the code, rather than the SA app, it seems to always cough itself and not work properly by the time I click the link, face ID doesn't work so then I have to punch in the pin, then the app opens.....and darn it the whole process has failed.
