Australian state border restrictions

That's incorrect. McGowan raised that on Tuesday that VIC will be declared extreme risk if the 14 average is over 500. Which will happen.

Yep, but I notice how he specifically went out of his way not to criticize Andrews / Victoria. Just noted they were having a hard time

What is the 14 day average now? Thought it would have been around 500 after todays number

Policeman in Queensland charged after helping his daughter cross the DMZ. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the allegations involving the officer were concerning. “You want everyone to do the right thing,” she said on Wednesday.

The "right thing" would be for her to resign, but I'm not holding my breath.

How the heck did this become our reality 🤦🏻‍♀️

So when Victoria inevitably overtakes NSW on daily cases, does a switcheroo occur at the DMZ?

No. NSW is playing the South Korea role. It is always open to refugees from the other states. Victoria will remain closed in order to keep its citizens ''protected'' in Dan-speak (locked in). It is only a matter of time before Gladys starts sending balloons up over Queensland and Victoria dropping leaflets showing normal life in NSW.

Dont really understand your explanation...
It was purely a speculative hypothesis, written with tongue in cheek but happy to explain :)
Consider a Mel-Syd flight in normal times. Flight booked 4.30 pm. Some problem happens to that flight and it's delayed or cancelled. Computer gets to work, trying to get passengers where they are going. It sees a 4.00 pm flight with empty seats and moves Pax to that flight. It's programming is based on there being lots of flights and it tries to find the best option.
In your instance, the flight with empty seats could be the one a month earlier. The computer's reality doesn't encompass the current situation. Hence my advice to talk to a human. Under current conditions, there's no way I'd be accepting any automatic changes to a flight without looking very carefully at the detail. Otherwise, before you know it, they'll have you transiting through a leper port, followed by fourteen days soft at your own expense!

No need for balloons. QF SYD-NRT/HND flys straight up over Queensland, we can wave. Perhaps we need to rename the airline NSWAS? After all, the airline has often been criticised for being too Sydney centric...

There's a strange correlation to Australia pre-Federation when Victoria was all for tariffs - placing them on intercolonial trade within Australia on manufactured and agricultural products. NSW, on the other hand, was for free trade. NSW won out with the provision in the constitution against any barriers to trade within Australia.

If NSW open up before then, VIC will never catch them on cases. Which again I’m not sure why people are so obsessed with, still…
I suspect Vic will overtake NSW in likely less than a week on raw numbers and even sooner per capita, and that's well before even the most optimistic prospect of "opening" NSW.

Current projections from Chris Billington suggest NSW will be in the range of 250-375 daily cases when it opens in mid Oct. He also predicts that time will be the peak for Victoria at 1400 cases.

Although a very different situation, cases actually dropped after UK's freedom day and have never got back to those levels. That is probably because asymptomatic people don't get tested.

There are models saying VIC will peak just below NSW’s cases but timeframes differ depending on what model you look at. Regardless it doesn’t really matter.

As we say to people still frothing about case numbers in NSW, VIC, ACT - it will never be as low as it is right now so if people are still scared and counting them and calculating peaks and troughs and obsessing over them, it’s only going to get worse for you 😂
