Australian state border restrictions

I don't care who goes to the high court to expose the lies and deceit from the WA government I just hope someone does

Let the minority rule the majority.

Which suits the government down to the ground due to their unbelievably flawed and failed health department.

Sadly if ones world is small what’s going on in the next street / town / state / world is irrelevant. (Note - this is not a pejorative judgement just a function of some people’s reality and how it will shape behavior. The latter critically important in motivating vaccine uptake, realistic border control, quarantine etc). Of course the latter two are irrelevant to those in my first point.

‘Why take antimalarials unless travelling to an endemic region when WA premier will ensure WA never allows malaria in?? We know it’s lethal but ……’

Until the dynamics of the critical mass shift re above groupthink and/or populace become intolerant of special rules for cricketers/footballers than to grieving family members - its a continuous self-perpetuating behavioural loop - or should I say spin.

No criticism…..No judgement….Just my take

Now if MMG offered a free ticket to the test for every fully vaxed person or trip to Bali??..!!

A friend whose (fully vaccinated) son is in the WA Police related this: They were told if they didn’t want to be vaccinated, no problem, but those members would have to wear a face mask at all times. Evidently there was a rush to the clinic!

It just takes the right carrot.

I understand there was a huge rush yesterday at NT clinics the day before mandates come in. One lady was unhappily compliant - words to the effect of "I'm forced to do this to keep my job". I think we'll see the same in WA; the previously boisterous bandwagon civil-libertarians quietly sulking away to get a vaccine.

At the moment I couldn't give a stuff about some old bails or the entitled individuals that contest for them. I would rather have the ability to see my family.
I can't even believe it's on the cards. I think Mark got away with the footballers being allowed in because they all quarantined (and I think the general public got a good laugh out of not allowing Eddie in). But allowing shorter quarantine for the cricketers before letting stranded residents in, I do not think will go down so well.

I've had two holidays flying to WA this year, but I'm not going in 2022 if I have to shove a stick up my nose, then another 2 days later per his new opening plan. Plenty of other states in 2022 I will spend my money in. WA interstate tourism market stuffed as long as these measures are left in.

Agree, I will not be doing and testing for interstate travel, period. I don’t care what their rules are.

I find that I can accept the testing. My problem is with moving into their bureaucratic framework. To be tested, you join a queue. The progress of this queue is neither lineal or predictable. There's other queues feeding the same testing station.
Once tested, there's no guaranteed time frame for results. You're fairly safe to say you'll have a result within four days; 72 hours would even be a safe bet, but if you absolutely need clearance in 24 hours..? You might, but you might not and absolutely no-one will take responsibility.

I know the wait for results in NSW can be up to two weeks, but in WA I have always had results by SMS within 24 hours or less. (And I have had numerous tests!). The last one was private and also much less than 24 hours. Where have you been going that’s taken so long for results?

So are transits allowed through MEL or SYD before entering QLD?
My reading of the rules seem to be that it’s fine but just want to make sure

Far from typical, an extremely rare outlier.

Majority of results are within 24 hours, friends who get tested 3 times a week, typically have them within 12.
Averaging about 3 days in some regions but could be delays in getting them to test facilities etc. I’d imagine the labs are still churning through them within 24hrs

Let me guess - freinds in Sydney? Believe it or not there are other places in NSW that are not in Sydney, and the turnaround times for all-non SYD places in NSW is longer than 24 hours...

Meanwhile At SYD international terminal, the testing facility offered the choice of a 24 hour test - the sign at the tent indicated generally within 4 hours if that period was within opening times - and 1 hour test. I got the 1 hour test and got the result back within about 45 minutes.

Thanks for the heads up about regional testing, we were going to do one at Orange before heading home, figuring crazy demand at places near border, but might head through Sydney instead. Might. Are these quoted extended turnaround times in relation to general testing or travel testing?

Cheers skip
