Australian state border restrictions

I am not sure what they cost over the counter as in SA it is near on impossible to find them. A quick search on eBay would suggest they are being sold online. If looking at the sold items most seem to be from the same seller and I would not even trust the test kits are real.
Apparently stores have them in the morning (Coles, Chemist warehouse etc) then sell out quickly. Woolworths online sell them to SA now as does Chemist Warehouse.

Airport ones still there today. Still asking if you have travelled from overseas and then letting you wander straight out
Son et al travelling from LHR to Melb to Adelaide next week so will be interesting to see what happens there. Arriving later at night on domestic flight.

Those States that do not have retail availability of RAT tests need to put the heat on their State Governments.Nearly 2 weeks ago the ABC had an article about the bulk supplies of RAT tests held by the State and Commonwealth Governments. The Commonwealth supply is for Aged care facilities which should be the number 1 priority.
Another more recent article confirming this from the pharmac_ Guild.

However those tests are all in bulk so not suitable to distribute to retail sellers.
However a pat on the back for the QLD government. They paid workers on the public holidays to repack 500000 tests so they could be distributed.

Our State Government in SA is being pig headed. The other day before they were ‘allowed’ Marshall bragged they had millions. Then they announced the next they weren’t for Joe Public but for health workers. And will never be provided free.

We don’t have socialised pharmacies. These are private companies and there’s nothing stopping them putting in orders directly with the manufacturers.

The real reason for the shortages is the constant talk of providing tests free from state governments. They didn’t want to be sitting on a pile of tests to sell when the government is handing them out for free.

That was pretty much confirmed by the PM today as the reason, and why he confirmed they won’t be free for nervous nellys or would be travellers - ensuring a market that’s now given confidence for the private companies to service.

Except Victoria which has 34 million odd coming soon, apparently.

NSW too. But doesn’t mean you’ll be getting them to use willy nilly. I’m guessing you didn’t watch the presser this afternoon which explained when RAT will be used over PCR and when RAT will be provided for free. Being Victorian wasn’t mentioned as a reason.

Well all in all it was actually the best National Cabinet for a long time…. Ever? Some real decisions, made quickly and all positive/in the right direction at least. More importantly it’s heaving everyone back together finally (excluding WA of course but even the agreed but still figuring out how to do it all 🥱).

I sourced some a couple of weeks ago online here and they shipped quite quickly

Had anyone been able to find the Panbio ones - they are higher sensitivity and better, but I can’t find any left…

I paid $30 for a twin pack (1 test each).

Thanks for the info but is unlikely that I will buy any. I was only looking for them yesterday as we had not received the test results back from the PCR we took in SYD on Boxing Day and was not sure what I had to comply with as a returning resident and the ever changing rules in SA. We are back now, received negative test results over the past day and a half, I found that interesting given we were all tested together at the same time, location, surname and yet results stretched out over 30 hours. The SA health check app did not require us to complete the daily checkin as we were in a low risk area. That been said I have just received a notification (within the past couple of hours) from Service NSW detailing that I was in the same location as a COVID-19 from a week ago. From our week in Kiama we have received these notifications for almost every place or shop we entered over the week, some within 18 hours and now up to 6 days. The whole checkin thing, getting tested etc. is IMO just a waste of time. Covid is here to stay, time for the pollies and the masses to live with it and get on with life.

Only caught the tale end on this... but sounds like no more entry check requirements into SA nor any testing on arrival. And no more isolation requirements for vaxed international arrivals (non vaxed will need to still quarantine).
