Australian state border restrictions

NT tried that method, and failed.
Of course they failed. It would only work if correctly designed and has anything about Covid been correctly designed?!
The "rolling the dice" risk is there, every time you travel interstate. Nothing stopping people getting tested prior to departure.
Mind you, my personal opinion is that the simplest solution is focus on vaccinations, people who are sick and simply forget internal borders exist. The resources that have gone into these imaginary lines could have been better deployed elsewhere.

I know of someone who told me they may have to cancel their Queensland holiday if they cant find a RAT test

When do they travel?

ABC is reporting:

Queensland to remove border checks from Saturday

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk:
"From 1:00am Saturday, the borders will be coming down, anyone coming domestically across into Queensland, either by our road or by air, they do not have to show that they have had their border pass, they don't have to show that they have had a rapid antigen test," she said.
"This is the time and the time is now right as we head towards hitting that 90 per cent (of the population aged over 16 vaccinated) next week."

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk:
This new ruling suits our extended family heading to GC early Feb, can't even get our hands on RATs atm anyway.

Screams desperado for their struggling tourism industry to just get us down south over the borders while school holidays still on. AND rightly so.

And great news for taxpayers paying a ridiculous amount of money for something completely ineffective

Great news for our little family, too - we are headed to FNQ from Sydney, next Thursday, for a long overdue getaway

Just got a box of 5 RATs for $50

The non gouging price was always 5 tests for $49 at Chemist Warehouse, so $50 seems reasonable.

IMO any retailer selling for more than $10 a test should be fined.

Just got a box of 5 RATs for $50 at a pharmac_ in Launceston. When I left still 10 boxes of 5 left and probably a hundred single test boxes.
So, that’s where they all went. Tassie. 🤣

Flew Adl-Bne this afternoon. Police patrolling carousel asking for passes. Lost interest in me as soon as they saw the T but quizzed bloke next to me whether vaccinated, whether had test, whether said test negative. Bloke pushed back a little, asking what the point was. Cop just smiled, shrugged and moved on. Seemed to be a lot of under employed cops milling about.

And included postage. That was the deal I got.

In fairness, avoiding actual work is what they do best. The money that’s been spent on having half the QPS stationed at airports over the last 18 months is terrifying.

In fairness, it's injecting money back into the economy. On a wander to the loo, I passed two apparently junior officers, burdened down with coffee. It all goes around.
