Australian state border restrictions

And with extremely low testing, very low QR code compliance and poor rates of compliance when “close contacts” are asked to get tested, it’s probably far higher than the reported case numbers. Not that I blame WA residents one bit for any of the above they are clearly sick of everything as well!
Low testing? If there is negligible Covid-19 in the community, why should there be more testing performed?

Some of the recent travellers from QLD and elsewhere are the ones who did not use QR check in and then would not disclose their activities. I check in everywhere and also notice most others doing the same. Not all, but the majority. However, there are always going to be plenty of people who can’t be bothered, or think they’re special and don’t have to.

I cannot understand why a positive person will not tell tracers where they have been! What’s the point? Or do they just like rebelling against authorities? They just don’t care who else they put in harm’s way.

There’s now also active resistance to the public health measures due to the breach of trust caused by the abandonment of the date. A number of people anecdotally telling me that they won’t check in and won’t test or isolate.
I totally agree with the breach of trust feeling, but I see most people using QR check in at shops and pubs, etc. It is ridiculous to refuse to isolate just because we are annoyed about the border not opening as promised!

Apparently the WA Health Minister has said this:

"We have, in all but name, lockdowns over east": WA Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson has defended the delayed border reopening, saying supply chains and the health sector are being 'crippled' in other states.

There are some great responses where people highlighted how they spent their weekend.

My favourite was the comparison to the North Korean newsreader:

Have you considered low reported Covid-19 numbers may simply be result of low testing?

Most people isn’t good enough to “crush and kill” the virus.

It is ridiculous but then some people have had enough of the breach of trust.

You cannot make people comply with your utopian world.

She was just making it all up as she went along, exactly the same as McGowan did.

What a hot mess of a ‘speech’. Clearly has a slight problem with reality…. Oh dear…. Things are unraveling 😂

I think some people might think that purposely accelerating the case numbers is now the clearest way out, in the absence of any other clear plan

One needs to test after either hitting an exposure site or having symptoms to get the number of positives up.

Please don’t be offensive and don’t make up situations.

I have often said I am dismayed and angry by the decision to not open WA’s border as planned. Why have you decided I have been promoting compliance to an “utopian world”?

From what I've seen in the CBD, you would be lucky to get 50% checking in.

I wouldn't be surprised if the check-in recalcitrance (or pretending to check in) rises now if people are told to isolate just because they are deemed a 'potential contact'.

In any event, particularly if vaxxed, overall it's better for your immunity if you get Covid now that it's Omicron-only. Need to get those T-cells cranking.
