Australian state border restrictions

Ah yes, those naughty millennials that have done and will continue to pay the most in terms of cost and lost opportunities due to the pandemic controls instituted by the government.
They’ll sure appreciate half a trillion dollars of debt - and that’s just at the federal level.

With the almost universal use of credit/debit cards and grocery loyalty cards, I would think it would not be difficult to identify who paid for something at a particular place of business in a given time period. And it should only be availble for tracing purposes if the business site is designated as a "hot spot". Name and contact phone supplied as per the program registrations. Visa/Mastercard/Coles/Woolworths and maybe American Express would cover a lot more than the present systems.

I do manually check in at pharmacies. And I now don't get to do much wandering

How long will that data take to get and process

It's been proven time and again you cannot contact trace Omicron and stay ahead for more than a few days, maybe a week before it gets away from you.

WA is no more special than anywhere else (in this sense anyway...)

Fair few barbs being thrown there. Even Andrews involving himself.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews rejected the claim with a cheeky quip about Western Australia cutting itself off from the rest of the country through border closures.

“I can get our ambassador to talk to theirs,” Mr Andrews told reporters in Melbourne.

Brilliant Dan.

Quote of the month.

WA propganda machine is in aboslute lying meltdown..... I've never seen anything like it!

Where have you been for the last two years? The Covid "war" has cemented the original quote "The first casualty when war comes is truth"

In the beginning yes, that's what the tracers were doing but eventually the critical mass is such that it is impossible. I'd suggest that kicks in at around 100 infections.

It's also the multiplication rate. Like the grains of rice on a chess board. Two people go to two shops, each gives Covid to two people. Regardless of the initial number, that rate of multiplication rapidly explodes.
Given that, both WA and Queensland have previously both shown that, during the summer months, Covid doesn't explode. It'll be interesting to see how Omicron fares.

Read somewhere that Omicron is between 2.7 and 3.7 times (IIRC) more infectious than Delta.

PerthNow showing the residents of WA what they are missing out on thanks to FR24

This is actually just going to make everything worse.

We actually had a project that involved bringing 100 people INTO WA to help which is now on ice until <insert date from dictator clown picks out of his hat> and WA Health are paying for regardless - paying for nothing now. Its horrific.

WA doctors move east after McGowan’s ‘final straw’ border announcement

Interesting poll in that News article. 85% want the re opening date to be reinstated with nearly 10000 votes.

Furious Western Australian doctors have called on Mark McGowan to restore the state’s February 5 reopening, warning the “betrayal” of scrapping the plans risks damaging trust, and there was no better time to reopen to the world.

I was speaking to Mum today and she's still very angry/emotional about it...half jokingly said she is trying to talk Dad in to moving to Melbourne 😆. Dad it seems remains similarly disillusioned (and I suspect he is or would willingly be a signatory to the petition mentioned in the above article...).
