Australian state border restrictions

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said travel restrictions on people travelling from Victoria will lift at 1:00am on Friday.

Didn't want to miss out of the school holiday revenue.

Yes - the Covid-19 virus also must have a school holiday calendar and stops infecting people during the school holidays.... 🙄

Well there is no JobKeeper anymore and if Greater Melbourne is not a Commonwealth declared hotspot the Feds won't provide any assistance to people in Melbourne let alone those interstate.

Trip to WA next weekend cancelled, made it Sydney instead. Now with Sydney outbreak growing I can see WA closing off. And possibly Victoria opens.

How on earth does one keep up with this stuff. For those of us who actually have jobs to do and can't take unlimited leave it's impossible to travel anywhere despite being fully vaccinated.
I think this is the same question being asked by even those who are most compliant with everything else. It's the question politicians just dodge.

I'm going to SA just for the weekend to visit friends and family some of whom I haven't seen since prior to the pandemic. So the most I'd consider would be a rapid test and almost instant results, but to have to isolate till a negative test back, forget it.
My recent experience was a test at 5pm and results back at 1am 8 hours later.

I’m getting a sneaky feeling Victoria might be closing off to NSW.
The AFL has put both Sydney teams on a charter flights out ASAP and they will hub in Melbourne. The game in Sydney has now been moved to Melbourne
SA isn’t exactly wide open to Vic though.

If that were the case I wouldn't criticise Vic. So much for the "gold standard" laissez faire approach.

It's a shame these "test and isolate on arrival states" won't accept a test on departure from your home state. If you catch covid the day before you leave it's not going to show up on the arrival test anyway so I don't see the difference.

The silly ones are in SA where players in AFL have to test and isolate for 3 days after the match when playing teams from a closed state. What exactly is the point in just a 3 day isolation period? 🤷‍♀️

For what it's worth, from NSW we think all the other states are silly! ;)

I'll definitely get flamed for that one, but it's true...

as it covers the CBD

And SYD airport which is in Bayside.

Reasoning is odd as not all of those LGAs have cases just some venues visited (and not venues where there has been confirmed transmission events),, yet other LGAs that have cases are not Red. Quite inconsistent.

"If you are a Victorian, you will be fined AUD$4957 and required to quarantine at home for 14 days"

Bit harsh for those on the 6am SYD-MEL flight tomorrow.

Airport is exempt provided you have come from elsewhere in Sydney or NSW or transiting.

The Vic red zone follows the older NSW mask mandate zone. Randwick hasn’t had a case or venue but because of the travel to Bondi Junction as the main regional centre it’s included.

Makes no sense at all. My LGA is now a red zone. But we have 0 cases and only potential exposure sites - based on someone coming in from Eastern Suburbs.
