Australian state border restrictions

Poor display by the Tas CHO after the positive result in hotel quarantine in Launceston. Guy arrived 2 Aug without a pass, no symptoms. Instead of being turned around ASAP he was sent to HQ where he stayed for 2 nights before voluntarily returning to NSW before the positive test was returned. HQ is the treatment given to essential workers' who can't enter the state unless they are proven such.

The CHO fudged his answer as to why HQ was allowed. 2 days after the arrival, the CHO was unaware of how many possible contacts the traveller had in Tas.

CHO sounded confident that not much chance of spread.

It just seems like it at present !! :(
I must have been trying to think positive thoughts when writing my comment. It is hard to be optimistic.

It’s certainly been a rough past 18 months and not being able to see a finish line is tough.

Though other than not being able to travel intrastate and interstate and socialise if compensation for those affected by lockdowns is inadequate eventually lockdowns may actually personally benefit me (they haven’t so far, so it’s equally possible they may continue to do so). I’d much rather no more lockdowns.

This is despite Coffs Harbour not having any confirmed cases since the Ruby Princess.
We seem to have switched to sewage traces now as confirmation of community transmission in a local area.
They have shut out everywhere with sewage detections as well as the new lockdown areas in the Hunter

True, but isn't it possible the sewage trace is from weeks ago when a Chap from SYD visited the Hoey Moey before returning to Sydney?

AFAIK, no cases identified despite massive testing during the last few weeks. Seems to be a bit of an overreaction to me.

And here on the Sunshine coast in lockdown even though the only positive cases this month are those transferred to the SCUH because obviously running out of hospital beds in Brisbane.
Last community transmission 29/6. But visited by covidiots from Brisbane and Melbourne who think lockdowns don't apply to them.Fortunately they haven't managed to give it to anyone yet.

Sounds like the Albury and Wodonga scenario. BTW, this morning, they appear to be setting up a hard border again....

That was excuse for locking down all of Victoria, again, even though the only cases are in Melbourne. Supposedly, one positive, followed by two negatives, but that equals a positive in Dan's mind. Where's his ring of steel now.

Ring of steel is coming

Amidale now in lockdown, I wonder if ACT will lock out all of NSW soon bar the border communities?
