Australian state border restrictions

I agree unfortunately. Just looking at the home quarantine rules for travellers from SA hotspots (not operative yet I think) I'd reckon it has to be a private residence less than two hours from the airport, with no facilities shared with other residences, and you must be driven in a private vehicle by someone who knows you.

Like cane toads in reverse!
Wouldn't that be coughroaches? ;) o_O

Cane toads creep steadily south, so north is reverse. Queensland is already infested with coughroaches o_O

I didn’t have the heart to say it in advance, but the Q on your pass said it all. You did well on the accom front though. Critical question, what’s the view like?

cheers skip

Either or, probably an incursion happening as we speak

I was wondering how it would work out if someone refuses to leave an airport terminal building on the basis that in so doing, they would be risking their health?
Proof of risk being that their destination State Health Authority will require them to quarantine.

I feel like we now need a new “Predictions of when other states open to NSW” thread now.

I’ll go first
Xmas 2021
SA has a state election in March. The Premier has been riding on popularity over his shutdowns, (our current zero status is something he won't risk) then there won't be anything from SA until after the election. But the current mask wearing and restrictions with no community spread for a few weeks I wearing a bit thin. Hell, we haven't even been given a sewage warning.

I think we might get to the 70% target in NSW before then at least I hope so.

I do believe NSW probably will. I’m having more faith that we will actually reach the targets (in Sydney at least).

The issue will be other states. If Queensland or WA stalls at 50-60%, then I can’t see either state reopening borders regardless of the rate in NSW.

Who knows… the question may well end up as “when will NSWs international border reopen”.

The PM was advocating for Xmas at the press conf today.

Although he seemed to be calling for NSW to lockdown harder rather than other states to open up.

Well ACT (are they closed?) will open when the national target is met.

The others won't open until they meet the 70% target. But I do wonder whether any State or Territory will renege on the National Cabinet decision between now and then.

Christmas is feasible, but late October is the projected month to meet start meeting 70%. (I think Casey Briggs has a stat graphic on his twitter)

Did you sign off without the...."Delta is a gamechanger" or is that for specific threads only?

Please amend. ha!
