And there was coordination with the States by SA.They notified all the other States of their intentions.I was working in Tasmania then and we were told what was going to happen before it was in the papers.

Not in general screening at airports there isn't which is what we were talking about. We set up most of the systems for them

Well today when I read the news from QLD my heart sank.Here we are 6 days out from our trip to WA and it has already changed dates 3 times and are we doomed.
However it was a pleasure to read the updated WA border restrictions which basically ban people from Brisbane.We last drove through Brisbane on 1/3 so it seems we are in the clear.Might have to answer 20 more questions when we arrive in WA but OK with that.A glimmer of hope for the future.

I don't think people from Brisbane are banned from entering WA at this point? Only people who have been to specific designated exposure sites. Or am I missing something?

The current wording is, from the Government site, -:

• Anyone who has arrived in WA from Queensland since Saturday 20 March, 2021, who visited any of the affected locations during the relevant times, must get tested immediately for COVID-19 and self-quarantine.

And the the ABC News has the same wording.

Updated public health alert for arrivals from Queensland

Effective immediately, all new arrivals from Queensland need to be tested for COVID-19 within 48 hours and self-quarantine for 14 days or until a negative result is returned.

Effective immediately, all new arrivals from Queensland need to be tested for COVID-19 within 48 hours and self-quarantine for 14 days or until a negative result is returned.
This three-day interim border control measure will be in effect until at least Tuesday, 30 March 2021 but further border control measures could be introduced, based on updated public health advice.
Directions issued on Friday, 26 March continue to apply in addition to these new measures.
Anyone who has visited exposure sites in Queensland must get tested for COVID-19 and self-isolate for the full 14 days from the time they were at the exposure site, regardless of whether the location they visited is deemed to be a close, casual or low risk contact by Queensland Health. They also need to present for a Day 11 COVID-19 test.

They are being ultra cautious in WA. Hospitals are continuing to struggle with normal patient volumes in a zero COVID environment.

An update from Marko this evening

Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation in Queensland, additional steps are being taken to keep WA safe.
Effective immediately all arrivals from Queensland will now need to complete 14 days of self-quarantine.
These new Directions also apply to those people who arrived from Queensland earlier today.
Initially, those travellers were required to self-quarantine until a negative COVID-19 result was returned, however due to updated health advice a full 14-day period of self-quarantine is now required.
The changes to WA’s controlled interstate border are based on updated health advice from the Chief Health Officer.
The Emergency Management Team, including the myself, the Health Minister, Police Commissioner and Chief Health Officer, convened a meeting late this afternoon to review new information from QLD.
Based on further information from QLD, the WA Chief Health Officer has recommended QLD’s risk rating be adjusted from ‘very low risk’ to ‘low risk’.

So on Saturday morning we applied and got our g2g pass for WA and it was approved. It was a lot harder than a Tasmanian g2g pass to apply.
Today an email rejecting our pass.
Thinking of staying in NSW until the 8th and just doing the Northern part of our trip. It would be the 15th day we would be in Sydney so hopefully OK unless a Sydney case.

WA says you cannot enter if you have been to Brisbane 20.03 or after
ACT says the same but after 11.03
VIC says the same but after 12.03
SA has no? restrictions yet

We know there was 1 case in BNE in mid-March, but that is over 2 weeks now which is the normal incubation time... so why do some states use the 11th/12th as the enter ban date and others the 20th?

If I have a flight like SYD-MEL-ADL, I am not allowed to get into VIC but would be into SA. (VIC orange zone means 72hr self-isolation but only have a 1hr connection at MEL. What if we do another Covid test in SYD the day before our trip? would that change things?)
Unless Qantas puts me on the direct flight, another trip cancelled....

neo naz_ terrorist groups in the state!

I’m now beginning to think this is going to be it for our future, even when we are all vaccinated the virus is going to mutate ahead of us all the time (eg the double mutant in India, Sa, Brazil, UK etc) and unless they crack the universal vaccine for corona viruses we are going to be subject to this level of reactive control for a very very long time

I think some States are taking note that the working theory is from the first case in mid March went to an unknown person, then the next case a couple of days ago

I can at least see the tiniest bit of sense in States putting some restrictions on people travelling from Brisbane due to the fear that these cases are known to be the UK variant.But for a State to basically ban the whole of QLD is absolutely crazy.There is a definition of a hotspot agreed to by all States and Territories except WA.It really means those making these health decisions in WA are at best ignorant of the science and at worst incompetent.

I emailed a question re the g2g pass asking if we stayed 14 days in NSW since leaving QLD could we then enter WA without quarantine.I also asked when they think 14 days from the 25/3 is up just to be sure.An automated reply comes from G2G WA SMAIL at wa police.
