Excellent!!! 8 hour layover rule doesn't apply! New USDM!

No. This doesn't mean that at all. It means on this one occasion (and others), the rep has allowed a 8+ hour transit.

It doesn't mean they can't/won't change their mind tomorrow, or next week.

I think most of us are struggling to work out whether there is such a rule, in fact what the rules are, given they aren't published and now apparently reps are applying (or not applying) on a whim.

Quick question for those using Screenshot method. Do you have the full (or partial) miles in the bank already?

Wondering whether you can get an itinerary approved(and put on hold) before acquiring the miles - a bit like you can with AAdvantage

Oh well, might as well put it up.

FRA-HND LH F

Bought the full balance of miles on the last day of the Cyberweekend sale, then immediately burned them. About another $100 or so on top for taxes and the booking fee. No phone calls required.

Travel is next Tuesday (8 December).

Nice one. Be sure to post a Trip Report.

I'm sure there are other LH F reports around, written by better people, but I'll do my best.

This is my very first time on LH F (I have done LX F before, although 2 x in the old seating and never in the new demi-suite concept - still comfy, though!). I've heard ebbs and flows in the LH F service delivery, so it'll be fascinating to see how this goes.

The LH F FCT, whilst not a frequent hangout for me, is no stranger either.

Time to use those sick days :p

Let me know in case you're joining, we need to ask LH to load some extra champagne :D

I flew LH F HND-FRA-HND a couple of weeks ago and it really is an *excellent* LH F route. They seem to put their best and most experienced hosties on it (and they're actually still loving their job which is so nice). One lady was telling me she used to fly with LH to Australia 30 years ago..!
Japanese meals also probably nicer than JL F imo, although probably a little more 'international Japanese cuisine' than Kaiseki style.
Fun fact: LH F availability HND-FRA-HND is excellent and whilst I can get a JL F award for 120K CX AsiaMiles SYD-NRT return, then onwards to Europe on LH, this is my new favourite First Class redemption route to Europe!

Good to hear, did you book LH F via LM?
Let's hope current availability isn't something temporary. I can already see myself booking SYD-BKK-NRT on TG F then HND-FRA on LH F :)

Btw I'm also doing FRA-HND-SYD on LH/JL F. There is plenty time to connect from HND to NRT which makes it ideal route flying EU-AU.

No I booked LH F through Lufthansa Miles & More this trip.

Plenty of time to transit NRT-HND, I actually overnighted on the way over, then back went from NRT to HND via the shops in Shinjuku for a few hours lol, great day!

A night F BKK SYD flight with TG for Nov 2016.

Hopefully this time I'll get enough time at the flounge for a massage before the flight.

While I haven't booked it, it's an interesting option for anyone wanting to get to / from Taipei

ANA has some flights from HND to TSA Songshan airport which is pretty much within central Taipei as opposed to Taoyuan which is a long bus ride or expensive cab fare out of the city.

Going over not so good as 5 hour layover at HND, but on way back it's possible to get a late afternoon flight out of TSA with just over an hour at HND.

I wont be quite that bad, but I do plan to get a massage this time

I reckon arriving at the airport/off an incoming flight exactly 3 hours before your next flight is the ideal time. 30 mins to check-in, buggy to lounge, 30 mins to eat and drink a bit, 1 hour massage and then 30-ish minutes to relax before boarding.
