re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Cheers guys.

Flight is planned for early April next year. Will either of the BKK-MEL flights be 77W fully flats for then ? (Aware that aircraft can change esp with TG etc but just keen to know what the schedule is).
MEL as my final destination is also what will probably tip it over the line for me esp if there's a chance of a fully flat bed (OZ seems like no chance lol).

Its TG, you might get a Cessna or the space shuttle for all we know.

1) Is ringing Asiana up the only way of selecting seats in the J cabin?
Seems so...took less than 5 minutes from the time I picked my phone up til the time I put the phone down.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I have an upcoming SYD - BKK - MXP on TG F (first time TG F :)) - two questions:

1) flight scheduled to arrive at BKK at 22:00 and connecting flight to MXP is scheduled to depart at 00:40. Would Mrs Wozz have time for a 60mins massage? How best should we go about booking that in advance?

2) seat allocation - SYD-BKK is showing 9 seats F, but 3F has been taken so I presume 1A / 1F is the next best alternative? BKK-MXP is fully booked (showing F0 A0), only 2A/2K seat left so probably not much choice there...

return leg is CDG - BKK in F (at least one of the middle seats have been taken so have selected 2A/2E) and waiting for BKK-SYD F award to open up (have booked in J for now).

Anyone has any experience in getting your seats changed at check-in counter?

Congrats - You'll love TG F especially if it is your first time :)

From my experience only and as always YMMV:

1) It's probably tight but do-able. As soon as you get to the lounge, request the spa treatment. Now word of warning, if you go the oil massage (which I do actually recommend), the shower after may resemble the scene of the exon valdez so give yourself some time for this. My preference would be to enjoy the food, drink and service and opt for a 30 min massage but it can still be done.

2) Sat in both and tbh they're both fine unless you need to be next to each other. The fact that you can have dinner together is the main win in F so I wouldn't worry too much. I remember our last syd to bkk in F SWMBO had 3E and I was in 3K and when we go on board the lady in 3F was all too happy to swap to 3K so that we could sit together. I liked row 3 but 1A/K is a very close second for me.

Made plenty of seat change requests at the counter when we arrived. As long as it's available or they can accommodate it TG should be more than receptive and helpful.

I am flying solo TG F on the same route (well BKK-MXP at least) and have chosen 2A. Should I scoot back a row to 3? I have not flown with TG in F so am unfamiliar with the cabin. Row 1 is blocked.

1/ In 2013 we had a similar schedule & TG advised that only the half hour was available to us. Booking in advance is not available, make the request as you walk in the lounge & they will come and advise you what is available & then come & walk you to the spa area.
2/ I have not been in the 9 seat option but in the 10 seat version we found 1A & 1K to be great options & realistically all window seats are fine. The seat maps on TG & check my trip were not accurate for either of our legs in May & July 2014-showing full but not the reality when onboard-we got changes made at checkin-the staff advised they had to get permission to open up 1K for us.

We did this leg this month. We sat in 1A & 1K but really there didn't seem to be much difference in those A & K seats in the 1st 3 rows.
From BKK to SYD 1K was showing as gone but checkin staff rang for permission & allocated 1K to us- there were 6 on board but the seat maps did not reflect the final seating. We were showing as 3A & a row 2 middle in a 9 seat cabin & ended up with 1A & 1K in a 10 seat

Thanks for the tip - I will let the missus know that 30mins treatment is probably what she will end up getting!

JT - in which month are you going to MXP?

personally... I prefer the 2x30 minute combo (head/shoulder and feet) over the one hour treatment. And if time is tight you don't want to be anxious about having to madly shower and get ready for boarding.

yeah I agreed. Hoping that 2 F seats will open up for our BKK-SYD return leg so we will have a bit more time to enjoy the full service on our way home.

Mid October.

Thought there is a chance we can meet at the BKK lounge - would have been nice to meet a fellow AFFer.

We are flying in Sept so wont be seeing you this time then.

We are flying out of SYD on the 26 Sept - which is the best lounge to use in SYD btw?

best lunge in SYD is the SQ lounge - without doubt. Provided they let you in (you are entitled and I think SQ SYD is getting better at letting people in, butthe MEL lounge tried to refuse entry just a couple of months ago saying the SQ lounge in MEL was not a star alliance lounge, it was a 'Silver Kris' lounge). I go in but others were turned away.

There is a limit to the TG F lounge in BKK... nice as it is... anything more than 4 hours and you can be really struggling. (One hour to get settled and have a drink and read email, an hour for the spa, then another hour to eat and do some more email... it's no QF F lounge)

The lack of an afternoon TG flight ex Syd has forced us to take the am flight ex Syd, hence the long layover in Bkk before our flight to Fra

I had a some 6-7 hours layovers there and time went by very quickly. Unlike QF F, at TG F you can relax in your own private room which is great.
The only problem I had was deciding between Royal Salute and Hennessy XO. My solution was to start with the first and finish with the second ;)
