re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

The link on OMAAT is to a 'a Brazilian miles & points blog' and offers an extra 10% on purchases of miles between September 9 and 15, 2015.

Just note that at the time I post this it is about 10:30pm in Rio de Janeiro, and it 8:30pm in Bogota Colombia - on 8 SEPTEMBER 2015.

So if you are planning a buy - it would be prudent to wait until it ticks over to 9 September 2015 in South America, otherwise you might miss out as a result of buying too early...

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I concur that. I was fortunate to fly TG on their 77W with staggered seats recently, but service is nowhere near SQ level, even F service is inferior to SQ J.

Food wise I wouldn't call it economy, it is slightly better, but again not up to SQ level.

Seatwise, even though its also angle flat, I would say SQ's angle is better than TG angle. Of course I haven't tried TG's angle yet, but I heard that it is the same as OZ's angled seat, which I have experienced as well.

TG only wins by having an amenity kit.

Seriously, if TG does not improve their product, I don't see how it can compete with SQ and CX in the region.

If you're willing to fly out of SYD then TG F is still excellent value all the way to Europe, Asia or just Thailand. As long as F availability is there then it makes sense to keep buying LMs but once it's gone, then also gone most of LM value ex AUS (unless ANA will start flying F to SYD).

If TG go down, there will be virtually no easy *A redemptions to launch from Australia.

Yes, I know you are saying we have AI, NH and CA, plus SQ may be able to be tricked by using screenshots, but that's all still pretty fiddly at times and not always ideal.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Anyone know why when I search for MNL-SIN and SIN-PER as individual awards there is availability in J for both. But when searching for MNL-PER there is nothing available?

Trying to get back from MNL in mid-jan, and would prefer not to pay for a positioning flight if possible.

Edited post - initially i thought this was a QFFF question.

The reason it won't display is because most connections to/from australia are blocked by the LM booking glitch.

You'd need to use the screen-shot method for the routing you want.

Since when are we talking about CX and QF in the LIFEMILES thread???

edited; Definitely not the QFFF thread!

So with this promotion, and the points that it offers, is it remotely possible to get return flights to Europe from Aus, or vice versa in J or F ? For 2 people ?

I know and I hope TG do well.

Other than the above you mentioned, there is also OZ. Also TK is planning to fly to SYD that might open up more.

Also SA from Perth.

TG using screenshots. F maybe difficult but J is easy.

Also NH to CDG/LHR/BRU all easy redemptions.

I got 2 in F a week or so ago for June 2016 SYD-xBKK-FRA.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

TG F or J award availability is pretty generous, if TG doesn't have flights then I bet No one has award flights either.... but the screen shot method puts me off as I'm lazy and like it all done online like it use to once upon a time.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

for those wondering how much it'll be..
150.000 + 202.500 = 352.500 points will cost 4950 USD .....

my understanding is that to get the 135% bonus you can buy "just" 101.000 miles - you don't have to go the whole 150.000?

thats right. minimum for 135% is 101,000. now with an extra 10% bonus as discussed in earlier posts.

maxing out the promotion would be 150,000.

Anyone having issues buying miles? I click continue on the last page and it thinks for a few seconds and then just reloads the page. Using a Citi visa

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Tried looking through the t&c's and I couldn't seem to find the answer.

When do miles expire? Currently mine expire in October 2016 and I'm hoping I'll use them prior to then but just wondering if I purchase a small amount now, will that push the expiry date further back by keeping my account active?

Yes, any activity extends the expiry date by 24 months from the date of the last qualifying activity.
