re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

We are looking at flying business class from Europe to Sydney in April 2017. I have found flights but am unsure how to use the "Screenshot" method, or whether my selected flights are within the rules. Could anyone please help me with this?

Milan to Brussels with Brussels Airlines
Brussels to Tokyo with ANA
Tokyo to Sydney with ANA

Will this still be 85,000 points each? How do I get the screenshots? Where do I send them to? Is it best to contact Lifemiles by phone (USA number) or by email?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ross & Yvonne

you'll need to email these in, to the lifemiles support email address.

You'll need at least three screenshots - each sector with availability, then a final screenshot for the total itinerary Milan-SYD that shows no availability.

For PCs, you hit the 'print screen', copy it into 'paint' and save it. Then attach to email. For apple devices such as phone or ipad you can capture the image and attach that to an email.

You'll also need to provide other information in your email such as name, your lifemiles account number and some other stuff as mentioned previously in this thread. They'll then get back to you (usually overnight given the time zones), and tell you how to make payment.

Does Milan-TYO via BRU come up as an option on LM? If yes, easy process, just include the Milan-TYO and TYO-SYD screenshots. If Mil-BRU is not offered, you might have some push back from LM. They can limit the screenshot method to routings that would normally be available - that is, this isn't an invitation to come up with crazy routings per US Airways.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Air Brussels arrives Brussels at 13:35, ANA to Tokyo departs 21:00.

I believe that is within the rules??

There was initially some restriction with the screen shot method that they limited connections to 8 hours - mimicking what was available if you could have booked when the website was functioning normally. These days it seems there is more flexibility. Either way you'll be fine :)

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I have been trying to do the screen shot method. It has been painful. I have done it once before and it was easy and went smoothly. They called me within 24 hours and it was all done

This time they have sent me emails with more info required. Each time just 1 clarification at a time with the time delay this means it has taken days. This time they have insisted that the account have an updated home address. Another request was the ph num needed to be updated and needed to be the same number provided for them to call.
New request they asked for a scanned copy of photo id. I have never heard of this but I have scanned it and sent it over.
Still waiting for them to call to book the tickets. Getting a bit over it.

Gday

I was under the impression that since the website revamp in January this year that they werent doing the screenshot method anymore. Seems i am wrong as someone just booked a beauty in the other thread. Although whole lotta moxie experience is something i would dread.

Am waiting for the next points special to come along as i am thinking of booking something for next year.

By the way has anyone managed to get any Air China flights to go all the way through to ticketing? I have checked repeatedly and it errors everytime.

Pele.

They fixed the system! Temporarily. Then it broke again (no connections). So we're back to the screen shot method.

Air China still shows on LM's booking engine but cannot be booked. Lifemiles support will email you back saying their agreement with Air China has been terminated (or words to that effect).

Gday

Ok so Air China is out.

I think some connections do show up just not all. The fella further up who wanted MXP- BRU- HND- SYD couldnt find it cause i think it is a not a valid route(although there dont seem to be any rules about backtracking!). I could get BRU- HND- SYD to come up all J no worries.

So don't even bother with Air China? That's news to me...

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Question - with the screenshot method can I only do it if it shows sold out? Eg. SYD(J)-HND(F)-JFK is available for a date and bookable online but I want to fly F the whole way SYD-BKK-HND-JFK which is available segment per segment but not online. On top of that some routes show as available because of Air China but as mentioned is not bookable and I don't want to fly them anyhow. Is one way to force "sold out" just to search for a certain carrier and screenshot that?

I think in this case you would take the screen shot for the two flights you want, plus the screenshot of the only available Air China option. Put a note pointing out your NH options are not available for the through itinerary.

For a short time LM was accepting bookings via screenshot for Air China provided there was actually space available - sometimes it was phantom (you needed to confirm actual availability through another tool such as UA's).

Lately (for some time now) it seems they won't even attempt it.

Still - worth trying if you really want it.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Quick question. If I want to cancel a flight wondering what is the timeframe? I have read two different rules.
As long as the flight hasn't commenced you can cancel it at any point right up to departure but i have also read that the cut off is 48 before the flight is scheduled to depart.
Not sure which is correct. Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I've forgotten the exact rule, but I think there is a short window where you cannot cancel the award... 48 hours sounds vaguely right. However - you can cancel either side of that. Even if you 'no-show' - you can cancel the ticket up to one year and get the miles back.

Any recent development on SQ availability? I recall it was showing up after a no-so-recent change, but then it was "fixed" again?

From the mid January fix to the mid March fix SQ J was available out of Sydney and other AU ports but since mid March it isnt. Intra Asia SQ J is still available.

Thanks. I was thinking of EU-Aus; I was just waiting for the next sale. Back to AA or xOSL I guess.

So after a number of sleepless nights I finally have my ticket. They didn't call they issued the ticket finally BUT the name is incorrect

My husbands middle name is NOT on the ticket. Is this a problem?

I called Lifemiles and they said it doesn't need to be on the ticket but every other ticket i have ALWAYS has his middle name. I have read numerous entries and sometimes it says that they must match and then other times I have found entries to say the middle name doesn't matter
Lifeless said i have to email support to fix this. I'm getting a bit nervous as we are flying out in a couple of days and i can't face another sleepless night waiting for the Lifemiles support department to call me

Advice would be appreciated as I am getting a bit nervous about this

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion
