Thanks for clarifying. Yep seat assignment had changed when I logged on to the TG website.

Looking forward to top up but hoping the exchange rate will recover, it cost ~$300 more to buy this week.

Is the regional SQ J better than the Thai J from Australia?

Better than old B747 but not better than B787 or A350, both lie flat beds and the latter is 1-2-1 configuration.

Thanks for the comparison. Very helpful.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I got the sale notification through an email - what's the possibility of an extra bonus on Friday/Monday as has been mentioned?
spacebar

It wouldn't be the first time they have changed the promotion mid-way...

I think the key thing to note with the latest promotion is that the bonus kicks in at a very low rate so no need to fork out $1000s to get the bonus miles.

A little dependant on where you are flying from. If you can get the 777er from MEL you get 1-2-1 J seating which is definetly better than the 2-2-2 SQ regional J offering.

Seems ok to me LuisT... you buy 18000, get 25200 bonus, total under this promo = 43200.

A reply to this post from Abdul_A350 from the 'post your successful award bookings thread' (where questions are apparently verboten)...

I am unable to enter 'CBR' into the airport code on the LM website using either chrome or firefox on a Win10 machine. Apologies if this is something obvious but can someone clarify how this booking was made?

cheers

Nothing obvious. It is a case of pressing F12 (in Chrome) and then entering CBR into the HTML behind the form. You can use the pointer that appears in the developer tools to select the From field. Then look at the corrseponding HTML in the Elements section. Type something recognised in the From field...like MEL. Expand the HTML til you find 'option value="MEL"' - change it to option value="CBR". Then submit your search. Voila!

Just please bear in mind that there are risks to doing this. One of our Tokyo group had her LifeMiles account suspended due to 'abnormalities' (with the notification coming in a mail that started with 'It is a pleasure to greet you' and ended with an advertisement for their points buying promotion).

Oh dear. I guess it depends whether LM would theoretically be happy for us to book redemption flights from CBR or whether they have deliberately removed it from their list of airport codes
