I'd like to apply for this as for me the $220 for the BW W card I currently hold is too expensive. But, here's the fine print saying I'm excluded:

The 50,000 bonus Qantas Points promotion is only available for new Bankwest Qantas MasterCard customers who apply for a Bankwest Qantas Platinum MasterCard credit card between 01 August and 30 September 2016, are approved and spend at least $2,500 on eligible purchases within 3 months from account opening. Bonus points are subject to change. Bonus Qantas Points will be transferred to your account within four months of account opening. This promotion does not apply to existing Bankwest credit card customers who upgrade or vary their existing credit card. Also not available to Complete Home Loan Package customers. Bonus points will contribute to the annual points cap. The total Qantas Points (including any bonus points) that can be earned each year using the Bankwest Qantas Platinum MasterCard is 200,000.

Easily fixed. Cancel you existing card first. Play the game.

Applied for QF Plat but was only offer the low tier QF MasterCard instead.

Check back through the messages. You'll find this is common. You need to ring them direct and tell them that you will only take the platinum card. Sales staff appear to be working on an incentive basis, so they'll likely approve your request.

I got approved for one of these with an 18k limit, but I reduced the offer to a 12k limit. Now I'm thinking that's just going to slow down my path to the BWW card. Am I right in thinking BWW is still desirable over the BWP? and secondly that BWW is offered only to those with an 18k limit?

My BW W limit is 16K. I started with a Plat card on 12K limit and then got the BWW with a 16K limit.

I think $220 pa for the BBW is not such a good deal for .66 point per dollar. Good for ATO though.

Mrscove has a $75,000 limit on World and I struggled to get a $12,000 limit on Platinum which I felt was crazy. We have almost identical incomes and assets but Mrscove's Qantas points stash is now eye wateringly miles ahead. GMOH you are still doing well at 0.66 points per dollar as the fee charged by the fiscal fiend is only at the 0.42% rate.

IF a person is paying the FF sufficiently (cove's description below), then BWW is probably worth it. I pay other people's tax bills to help out. ;)

I have a local BW Store locally. Might apply there.
Online still shows a min credit limit of $6k for Plat.

Applied online and had a phone call from a branch the next day saying all well, then another call the next day saying that despite sending payslips from Govt. employment wanted permission to contact HR. I queried that the pay slips showed that and said it was too much hassle and had not been asked for this on other cards. The branch employee emailed back the next day advising all good and Platinum despite two other cards. Account access is now set up so seems to be moving forward - not as easy as ANZ or NAB successful applications of late. Will get the points and maybe push for 'World' card if it's still available in a few months.

What is the appeal of the World Mastercard apart from Gold status with SPG.

It used to have a higher point per dollar (1) but that's now 0.66. Also had 55 interest free days, better travel insurance, hertz gold plus, and other world MC benefits.

It also offers good o/s FX rates. Does the platinum card also offer that?

Just about to receive my second statement after spending the $2500 needed. Anyone get points yet?

I wonder how long they normally take for processing the applications. I applied online last week and sent my payslip via email. Haven't heard from them ever since...

Mine took about 10 days before they sent the card then another week for it to arrive. The day after applying I went into a BW branch to get my ID sighted, and the staff in the branch sent the person who was doing the verification an email to hurry them along...

In my case I'm existing BW customer with a PAN, so I guess no need to ID. The application was conditionally approved online.
