Keep us updated....

They called me and said something stinks in Denmark (well words to that affect):. They confirmed Income/Assets/Liabilities are way within the bounds so it wouldn't be that. They also confirmed that it didn't go to Equifax (their provider) and they confirmed I wasn't on their naughty list (they mentioned there was one as alluded to earlier).

So they're going to call me back later tonight and do a manual application over the phone and if it is knocked back they'll know why and see what they can do. Will provide further update.

Call received and the person contradicted earlier advice and said it was in fact credit rating. And they (the whole) bank have no discretion over this. As mentioned they used Equifax and my score is 688 (towards the upper end of good) and they mentioned it must be Very Good.

I don't think I've ever had a score of Very Good with Equifax and has always been around high mid 600's (due to many many credit cards).

Be interested to hear if there have been any other approvals with Equifax scores Good or lower?

Apparently I’m average with EQ due to “Number of credit applications with multiple credit providers”.

Recent apps have been NAB and Bankwest, both approved, last month and this month, nothing else since December, but I hit it hard last year and it’s knocked my ‘score’ right down. I don’t read much into those scores, especially now there’s comprehensive reporting, as they have more than just searches and defaults to base their judgement on.

Edit: Score is good with EX apparently though.

Interesting, perhaps they refined their algorithms as it apparently was computer driven how it was explained to me.

Which free service gives you your eqifax score ?
To answer my own question
My score was on the border of exceĺent so I will be applying for this one and I think its a keeper with the fee free overseas transactions.

Yep, that’s the one I used.
Agreed, I’ll probably keep this one, 1xQF/$1 on a MC is about as good as it gets, and no forex tips the balance from NAB/ANZ for the time being.

Took a week or so to approve (backlog of 5 business days supposedly) but now to make the minimum spend.

Great thing about the card is the ability to add it to Google Pay without receiving the physical card yet. (only if you are an existing BW customer and app user).

Full details of the card are available on the app once approved and you can see the card number, CVC and expiry date.

Council rates will prob be a no (they specifically excluded ‘council rates and fees’ a while back), rego I don’t know, I’ve had points on VicRoads rego from other providers but not Bankwest, public transport topups will probably be fine.
I checked with BW. They said Council Rates & Rego are are considered a purchase of goods/services so don't come under Government Charges which applies to things like ATO payments. I was wondering more to reach the purchase limit for the bonus points. I've paid my rates with the new card so I'll wait and see if the points hit.

My goodness BW is, um, rigorous with applications... 8 days after application I've had a 20-min call, going through the details of financials with an unfamiliar thoroughness! (My household expenses are lower than typical.) And I still don't know if it'll be approved!

Online chat is confusing as they have advised on two occasions that car registration (VicRoads) doesn't count. I guess we'll see when the statement comes.

Mine took about a week before I heard from them. sms and email then followed saying I was approved.

Will be interested to see whether they'll drag the points crediting out.

My credit card arrived Friday and today my first statement hit the inbox.
I can confirm despite assurances from BW chat my council rates did not earn any points. So that’s a no for rego and rates.

I wonder if using EBP with these type of bills would work.

I had immediate conditional approval. Sent off payslips to confirm.

With those who have had application issues did you get the conditional approval then had problems at the next stage or did it knock you back straight after the application was lodged?

Heard nothing for about a week, then an email and sms came almost the same time saying my card was on the way. That was last Thursday I think. Card arrived today.

I'm a Bankwest customer & I got knocked back at the online application stage. When I went in they changed the figure in my Home Loan from the original Principal to what is currently owed. Have now been approved & am waiting for the card to arrive.

LOL Yeah I just noticed I got a statement before I had a chance to use the card.
