BNE Saturday 14th April 2018 Dinner

I just wanted to know where dinner was.

I don't think that's been announced?

Correct - I haven't seen anything after the OP:

I'm waiting on venue & pricing, so will post it as it comes to hand.

But considering Storyteller has only just finished the post FT AGM dinner, she can now turn her mind to this dinner. Well, maybe give her a week to have some down time.

Yep, it's been a big few weeks!
Am still waiting on replies from a couple of restaurants plus some other things I'm waiting to see fall into place.
That's why I just did a "save the date"

Dinner will be either in CBD or close. Hopefully somewhere to take advantage of the river. And hopefully a place that can deal with a booking that can grow a bit. And hopefully at a price point that is acceptable to most. And a menu option for a group that likewise is acceptable to most.. And a place that can cope with a very very talkative group

The date is to fit in with the FTU that I'm helping with by being the Australian liaison, as per QF WPs post above & AFF Admins post in Open Discussions.

Lots of moving parts , so please be patient a little bit longer on the actual restaurant

Any suggestions on an "elevator pitch" to convince the hubby to go to the FTU event? I've already got commitments that weekend, but he doesn't (yet).

Mr Carambola is an ex-travel agent who specialised in RTW fares, but those were generally all revenue bookings. I tend to be the card-churning, SC-chasing one, and I'm also the one who books all our award flights. He's mildly interested in FTU but not yet convinced, as the event page contained bios of the speakers rather than details of what the sessions would involve (apart from the obvious theme of "travel and points"). Information from past events - or any other persuasive ideas - would be much appreciated!

That said, at least he didn't need much persuasion for the dinner. All it took was the word "steak"...

Provisional schedule is now up
There is a session that will particularly appeal to him: When to DIY, & when to reach for a Travel Agent..

Looking forward to meeting you at the dinner carambola

I'll just have to check if she'll be on call that evening which may scuttle all plans.

Our goldish colour has tarnished to a rusty tin colour. Unfortunately, it is the 2nd last night of the Commonwealth Games and +1 has been told she is on call ... no exceptions!

I hope everyone has a great time. Enjoy the evening.

I think my work schedule is still in limbo that week. I'm not sure where I'll be yet o_O

Hopefully it works out that you can be in BNE ... You'll be disappointed if you miss out ;)

It's all starting to come together nicely with both the FTU sessions & a great group of speakers, and the dinner.
And, there are a few exclusive things on offer to the FTU attendees as well as some great gifts from assorted industry people :D

Hi, Richard and I would be keen. Newbies here. Went to one other dinner with a group and had great night out.

Look forward to seeing you both there!
Will you also be registering for the Frequent Traveller University?

As Newbies you'll find out a whole lot of great information all weekend! Suitable for both new travellers & also old hands :D

Hey mattm199, post 48 has all the details for ChaChaChar :D The EventBrite password is FTU BNE
Hopefully see you there!
