I think what many here may be missing is that the ad provides a sense of hope. Yes, I agree that few would be incentivised purely by the rewards to get jabbed. There is very little, however, that would incentivise these sorts of people. But importantly, the ad fills me with a sense that there is in fact light at the end of the tunnel. That some day soon, we will all be able to get back to travelling and to seeing family/friends abroad. Love him or hate him, but AJ has done a far better job of this than Gladys and her 6m jabs rubbish.

I was with you up until the end....

I think throwing you a nickel over someone pushing jabs in over half the NSW population has done a far better job.

AJ had essentially done nothing, but get some positive advertising for his company, C'mon!

I simply don’t understand people being critical of this. I see value in it and it costs me nothing.

If you don’t like it, ignore it.

You do realise some people are taking the piss right…. 😂 (at the screechers complaining they didn’t get enough honey from QF from doing something that will literally save their lives / loved ones lives which should be reward enough but you know…).
Some people need to get a grip.

On the face of it, the 15SC are the only 'reward' worth anything until you find out the 15SC points have special status in not counting for anything worthwhile like status upgrades or lifetime status totals, meaning they're actually worthless too and will just expire again before you can actually extract any tangible benefit from them.
If only they had allowed them to count for lifetime status, I think most of us would think it is a reasonable offer. Shame.

Like a few other members, I took the low 1,000 points to thow my hat in the ring for the major prize of a year's worth of flights & hotels.

My reading of the T&C's in the offer states that the SC's do not contribute towards most things, including Lifetime SC's. As per the fine print in the email that I received:

Status Credits: 15 Status Credits will be credited to your account within three days of your completed application for a reward. Status Credits will not contribute towards any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, Loyalty Bonuses, Lifetime status and any Qantas Status Accelerator. Status Credits are not transferable and will be governed by the Qantas Frequent Flyer terms and conditions.

Does reality match these conditions? If the don't contribute towards LTSC's then I don't see much point in taking the SC's from my personal perspective.

I also took the 1000 points. When I looked in my account it says I received 1000 points but my points total only increased by 100. Has anyone else had this happen ?

No points have landed in my account yet, been 24hours, must've had an overnight stay somewhere.

My balance appears to have increased by 1,000.
I got an email from QFF on Monday (selling health insurance), which included my (then) current balance.
My account has had a couple of movements since then, including the bonus 1,000, and my new current balance reconciles correctly.

The offer has shown up in my iOS app this morning.

While it's nothing especially earth shattering, I'm also not in the camp of being offended by it either. I appreciate the gesture.

Disappointing the SCs don't count towards LT totals so I'll probably just take the 1000 points.

I can confirm they have landed in my account but have not contributed to my lifetime SC.

Bit ironic really and a missed opportunity given that the whole idea of encouraging vaccinations is to save lives including one’s own.

Took less than 24 hours for SCs to show:

It is a shame they dont contribute to lifetime status but Im hoping to win the free flights.

sorry if the below was already covered, there seemed to be a trend of questionable objections, not sure I want to read those at this stage.

Here's an uncomfortable truth from a reliable source: 100% of people who get vaccinated will die.

(Eventually.)
Birth also causes a 100% death rate.

For something so significant to the future of Qantas, and the airline business, this does seem like a token amount.

$600000 of prizes! $85000 per state/territory. Seems pretty significant to me, even if there is no foreseeable way to spend $50,000 on flights in the next 12 months.

I have to admit, I’m not overly keen on uploading the vaccination certificate to the Qantas app (or anywhere else for that matter), it has your full name, DOB and Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) on it, not something I’d really want to be handing over to all and sundry.

Who says you can't redacte the IHI? Even the DOB could potentially be redacted.

Joycey is trying to keep the Qantas business alive with this offer. At the moment we cannot travel and Qantas has all these assets sitting there doing nothing. The options are:
1. do nothing - airlines go bust, staff lose their jobs including joyce.
2. Lots of people get vaccinated - travel can return to normal. There are still outbreaks but health system isn't overwhelmed
3. No vaccinations, just open up - airlines ok, lots of people die.

This offer is about creating an incentive for option 2 - Not as many people die, things get back to business being viable. It's not just PR, its the viability of our qantas points.

<snip>

1,000 QFF points is worth at best $10, which will be easily offset by quietly increased prices and points devaluations in their various redemption stores. There's no chance of actually using these points to redeem a flight of course because they'll make sure there are no QFF seats on whatever flight you try to book.

<snip>
1000 points have a nominal value of $10. They have a best value of $70.
Plenty of reward flights are available. When was the last time you looked?

Given Joyce has been talking about this for months - It must've been a long BBQ weekend.

Sure - if you win. And the chances of that are...? How many won't win, so won't get that reward?

Competitions are usually distinguished from offers as they're quite different. And if you just look it as a competition, then the need to enter private details is a very high hurdle compared to most.

I still find it a lowball offer for what is being asked.
