Lovely to see so much interest from established as well as newer members alike. This us definitely an open offer, to answer the question asked earlier. The colour of your money, cleared in a bank account prior to travel, is your ticket to ride.

Hopefully for we who can't make this date there may be other degustation lunches to enjoy. I imagine Boss Reggie's very generous offer to sponsor some of the jet fare will be a one off only.

Date is fine
Getting there/back most likely by commercial flights (though a small possibility that I could GS it at least one way)
Food and wine it is

Cheers

* Dates look fine at this stage ( Have sister's 40th bday scheduled for Easter which is likely to be celebrated either the bossreggie lunch w/end or post Easter w/end...will "plant the seed" early with sister to favour post Easter w/end for 40th bday celebration )
* GS a no go , so will use commercial flight ex SYD evening of 30th March
* Yes to Food and wine

To be fair...... I MAY travel to AKL more than once or twice every couple of months for a meal where a commercial flight does not suit. I don't usually invite guests on my plane, so this will NOT be a regular occurrence.

Reading this thread is not so easy... I'd like as many people as possible to be there for lunch. It seems the weekend I initially proposed, many of those I'd love to see there are not available.

Mods please help me with a poll.

The date is OK for me. I intend to go over and back on commercial flights (for SC accrual). Full (food and wine) dégustation for me.

I am probably good for the suggested dates, food + wine + commercial flight.

I have made a Google spread sheet to help everyone get a better idea of who is free when.

It can be found at:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuPn3YvJlhvfdHF6MEppVm1zV2pLd1VCZERXMGNKUUE#gid=0*removed due to poll*

I have made it public and editable by anyone, so it's not the most secure, but I'm hoping we can trust everyone here.

I have made if from Feb to the end of may, but it can be expanded if BR wants.

If people prefer a poll, that is fine, I just think this does a better job of showing who specifically is free when.

also, someone may want to do a database which does the same thing, I'm not fussed.

Note: I've made it a requirement to sign in, you need a google account to do so, if this is a problem for anyone, let me know.

I think the weekend after the 28th March and maybe the last weekend in April would be the weekends I'd like to get a poll on. Once we know the weekend then its just a matter of getting the numbers of attendees so I can arrange the restaurant.

Thanks for your help. ...
The poll is single choice with your selection visible. It will be open until after 5pm Tuesday 10th January 2012.

Thanks Serfty. Just voted. I'm go for either date. Just need BR to set the price for the charter. Degustation lunch works for me.

At the moment I am clear for both weekends.

The weekend in April is just after Anzac day so it will be even a shorter week for me.

Of course

OF course, gremlins crept in and those options really mean:
  • Only Fri March 30 - Sun Apr 1
  • Only Fri April 27 - Sun Apr 29
  • Either of the above Weekends
  • Different Weekend/Can't make Either - will post in thread
Also, if you will not be able (or don't intend) to attend, please don't vote.

Thanks very much serfty for sorting this poll.

The difference in time zones between here and Australia means I'm reading this usually when most are asleep.

As serfty has said. If you have no intention to join us for lunch, please do NOT vote.

Also, these 2 weekends are NOT set in stone! If interested attendees vote overwhelmingly for another weekend then I can be flexible with dates.

This will be an event to remember. If you will be there for the entire weekend I'm happy to arrange winery visits etc for interested parties. we can do this as a larger group in a mini coach. Or for those who have higher budgets, we can helicopter it from Mechanics Bay.

Simon Gault is a very talented and high profile chef. He will be cooking for my guests PERSONALLY. I will also choose his assistants for the meal and ensure we have the very best wait staff on hand. If you LOVE food and wine, this is going to be something which will appeal to you.

Finally, your choice of Hotel is entirely up to you. If enough people are interested we can arrange a pre-dinner drinks on the Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday.

Obviously this is NOT going to be something EVERYONE can afford. Once the weekend has been confirmed, maybe we can do something as a group with those who can be in AKL but don't have the resources to attend the actual lunch.

Let's make this an event to remember!!

Good morning Bossreggie,

My travel plans would be probably fly over Friday afternoon flight and fly back Sunday morning.

Happy to do something on Saturday during the day.

Friday night drinks would start the weekend off great.

We could do a few lounge drinks as we are all checking in.

I would love to do the charter jet but trying to get myself to Melb at end of month just makes it to hard with work.
