BP is normally around the same price or slightly cheaper than Shell or Caltex in my area. I prefer BP fuel but will seriously considering elsewhere if they keep the coughpy QF earn rates

The earning rate is somewhat dependent on the price per litre. For me today's rate is $1.409 for 98. A litre would give me 2 Velocity points or 1.4 Qantas points. In such a case I don't regard the Qantas earning rate as coughpy. If only buying 91 at closer to $1.00 a litre then the equation alters.
In the South East of Melbourne I find BP petrol prices as competitive. Shell generally are not. Today some 6 cents more than Woolworths.

That is a very valid point, regarding the comparative earn depending on the price of the fuel. I personal try to buy my fuel at the lowest point of a fuel price cycle and a fixed earn based on litres will always be more beneficial. However this looks to be over, I wonder if Woolworths will start selling BP fuel cards

Without wanting to put a dampener on the discussion as to whether BP is expensive of not, that all seems rather off-topic to me!

Actually it can be an important consideration if the price difference is more than the anticipated value of any points earn.

Another issue is accessibility; even though I live in suburban Melbourne, due to a geographical circumstance it is a 20 km round trip from my abode to the nearest BP. Moreover it's on a road I rarely take.

As a result I have not found myself in the position to take up any of the quite good offers I have had.

I agree that it's relevant to whether the BP alliance holds value to individuals or not, but that's not the title on the thread!

I discovered my local BP when the velocity partnership started (I rerouted my trip to work, which turned out to be the same time as the other way I use to drive), found this BP to be very cheap and always the last to put up their prices. Sometimes has been a 15c p/l difference compared to local Coles or 7 Eleven.

However pretty much every other BP I drive past is more expensive than the petrol stations around it.

I even filled up at a BP the other day assuming they all took velocity, apparently not!

Will be a shame when this ends (but possibly good timing as I am evaluating whether to jump to Qantas).

Note: I also got the above offer others mentioned but at 8 points per $ :)

No offer for me. Probably because I fill up there twice a week so they know they already have me.

Well that would assume this even gets decided by 30/06! The legal system does not always move quickly.

The hearing has been fast tracked to September. It is not clear at the moment what happens between June and September..

Well that's a conundrum- will also be looking to the judgement with interest.

That's funny that they just sent me a double points promo then last night...which I accepted

Pretty sure that Velocity would seek an injunction to delay this until a decision has been made and the court would be likely to agree given the case has yet to be heard, but I'm no lawyer.

I cant believe you guys can be bothered for such a insignificant amount of points...

There's not much bother involved for me. See green sign, price is about the same, fill up swipe card.

My biggest hassle is making sure I don't accidentally redeem $10 off and waste my points. What a stupid idea to make it so easy to do by accident.

Wasn't exaclty going out of my way to do it - but I'll take any points on offer, as I need to fill up anyway!

I received the 6pts/$ for in-store spend and 150pts for fuel spend. What on earth do folks purchase in-store that makes this even remotely interesting?

Some of us don't churn credit cards multiple times a year.

Plus the 200, 300 and 400 bonus point offers are usually easy to achieve.
