Yeah - That is correct. Airtrain is quite expensive compared to other cities. It is often cheaper to catch the train to the nearest station to the airport and catch a cab from there!

At that price, I think I'll drive.

Anyone near the Benowa area want to split costs? I'd be leaving the Coast around 4:30pm and coming straight home after the drinks (8:45pm at the latest).

A question for Airtrain regulars: is it really $57.40 return from Nerang to the airport (less 10% for online bookings) or am I looking at the wrong page?

As it's only $12.90 from Nerang to Central, I had in mind it would be about $15 each way!

Compared to taking the car at $25 for gas, $8 for tolls and say $22 parking, Airtrain's not a huge money saver.

I guess that sounds about right. It is $15 each way on the AirTrain from Roma St, so that pretty much adds up to the price you've quoted :(

Of course the one advantage of the train is that you don't have to worry about being caught by the booze bus after you leave the lounge.

I wasn't planning on more than Coke as I'll have to drive home from the station anyway, so I'm OK on that one!

Its probably a bit late in terms of the planning however if you want a free ticket home on the airtrain, can I suggest you come early and do some shopping at the airport village via the free bus?

Brisbane's Airtrain - Airport Village & DFO

It should include Woolies in the offer.........

A little cheaper if you buy them from the hotels in the area or even buying a book of 10 Airtrain tickets. I just purchased a book of 10 for $135 and the expiry is 31/12/2012.

If you buy a return ticket it is $28 which equates to $140 for ten tickets.

The cheapest (non-airport staff) airtrain ticket available is to book a return ticket ex-Airport online.
$25.20 for the return journey. Need to book > 2 hours before you arrive at the ticket counter though. And, as I was advised recently, if you don't turn up on the day you specified there can be issues with getting the tickets.

Apart from the Info desk in the mall, most major hotels/backpacker places and some travel agents will sell the $13.50 tickets (Some may still have $13 tickets in stock, but unlikely).

Near Roma St: - Holiday Inn, Tin Billy Backpackers are two I'm aware of. Probably also those backpacker travel places.
Near Central Station... Unsure. Perhaps Base Backpackers, and Sofitel. Towards mall, you have Rankins, the Infomation kiosk and others.
Near Fortitude Valley ... Think there's a travel agent at the top of ChinaTown mall that sells them, plus one on Wickham St near the Story Bridge road.

etc etc.

Looks like a good night will be had by all. If anyone has an iPad 2/iPhone 4 and is connected to the wifi network tonight, feel free to FaceTime me and I'll try be near wifi on my end. Tae knows my address.

Unfortunately by then it might be a little dark here to show off the snow on the mountains.

Enjoy all!

I'll try to facetime you, so you can join in on the action. I've got your Mobile number, can you PM me?

Traffic Permitting, I should arrive at Brisbane airport around 1750. I'll be the young looking one wearing black jeans.

I am already here, where is everyone :lol:.

Never mind, I worked it out!

Better late than never.

I will be there. Arrive on the 1734 airtrain. Should have a thirst by then

Given the tragedy in Slacks Creek over night, I will most likely be late - will still try for the 5.11pm train at Central, but more likely it will be the 5.41pm of the 6.11pm.

Do you think I'll have a problem with Traffic on the M1 this afternoon Taezar?
