Just checked; 1E and 2D are already taken. So stuck in 1A, if only I could request 1B to be blocked off - keep on wishing me thinks

But factually, I see at 19 unallocated seats - so if it remains this way it could turn out very nicely ;)

1A lack a lot of the legroom of the other seats and has a lot of galley noise, probably one of the worst seats IMHO, but still better than in the other cabin.

I don't know if that made a difference because the dude I was talking to had no idea what QF status people were. But maybe he was given a list? and had to call starting from top to bottom.

For the status it would've made no difference, this is being offered on all JQ international flights with *C available. They get the names of everyone on the flight and call everyone on the flight (provided they are not registered on the DNCR).

markis that's a little harsh! :)

I just came back from BKK a few weeks ago and we had 1A/B - they were fine in terms of leg-room - I'm very tall and was able to extend my legs out fully horizontal. Certainly you can't put your legs underneaththe seat in front - but you save having someone reclined into you (which does eat up a lot of personal space).

In terms of galley noise, outside of mealtimes the crew tend to sit and chat on the galley seats on the HK side. So the 1AB side is better.

I've gone off 2D of late after the crew rammed my legs about three times on the return to BKK. The lights were on full (beginning of the meal service) so it was just bad luck - but enough for me to think row 1 is better.

In 1A, the fuselage does curve in from the left, making the lateral space at the bulkhead around 10cm less than otherwise.

Just to confirm.

There is no business class in Darwin to singapore?
I couldn't even book a *class flight on that leg.
I am leaving october 3rd, and coming home the next day...

As far as ODU go - is it still so variable? ie: somewhere between $200 and $500 bucks?

The darwin - singapore is a relatively shorter leg than Melb - bkk or anything, so does that have a part tyo play in the cost?

Also with an ODU - do you not get food?
As a jetstar passenger, you can still use the QP if you are a QP member right?

This is my first time flying jetstar, so a little apprehensive that its going to be ä bit coughpy...

At the moment starclass is only offered on A330 aircraft.

The flights Darwin to Singapore are operated by much smaller A320s (single aisle and single class).

There have been no announcements that starclass is likely to be offered on the smaller jets but one wonders if that will change (especially if they can get some good convetible seats).

With an ODU you get the full starclass service - including free food and drinks and entertainment.

However - there have been some reports that an ODU may not give you full business class status credits and points.

As a Qantas club member you can use Qantas clubs when flying jetstar.

Reports are that the ODU prices are still variable as you mention. Sometimes the difference between economy and star is very small at time of purchase (it was recently being offered MEL-BKK for $250 extra) that it makes it worthwhile to secure a specific seat and full points and SCs rather than risk waiting for the airport.

Jetstar is useless.
This is now he 2nd time I've flown with them.

1st time, had row 1c, usually a good seat. Not so on the jetstar flights where there is no business class.
1c has the "Butt in face" loveliness when people want to go to the bathroom, or the "trolley in leg" comfort when the stewards move around, or in my case, the "Baby swap" across my seat about 10 times during the flight...Yes it ran late. Yes it was cough.

This time? No sitting outside the internation departure gate in darwin waiting to board to singapore. 2 delays later and no end in sight. Now can't get back to the QP, and can't even buy a magazine as the news and travels shop is closed...thank god for my laptop.

And NO UPGRADES! At least I could potentially look forward to a substandard, but at least comfortable *class, but alas, the Darw -sing flight is all cattle class only...

Too harsh? Maybe, but that might be because the QP people told me I had to queue up at customs 1 hour and 15 minutes before the flight...which is now 2 hours and 15 minutes...

Has anyone done an ODU to Tokyo recently? I was wondering what the cost would be.
I'll be leaving from Melbourne and was wondering the best way to go. Maybe via Cairns to get the QC access? I'll be travelling late January.

Would the ODU be done in Melbourne or Cairns? There is 2.5 hours between flights at Cairns.

If the connecting flight Melbourne to Cairns is on jetstar domestic then there'll be no starr class cabin on that - so your upgrade will be ex Cairns only.

I am thinking the facility to do the upgrade (unless you are called in advance) would be at Cairns - so depending on what time you get to the service counter there may or may not be any left (given check-in for the tokyo flight will open three hours in advance in Cairns).

I got an ODU on SYD-OOL-NRT in late November - the price was $299 from Sydney. I didn't ask for a upgrade from NRT to SYD (via OOL) as I was already flying *class. They are offering ODU again from NRT (not sure about the price). All up 320 SC's for $1388.

#1 Son and grandaughter came out from Japan for their Summer Holls in July this year, and returned end of July, NRT/OOL/NRT, on JQ. Night before flying home he rang JQ and asked about up-grade, it was done over the phone, and cost $320 for both, was told that there was only 8 people in *class, but the pig pen was full.
There is a *class club at OOL, very basic, and I think someone told me that the QC at CNS inter was closed (don't quote me)..................

Cheers Dee

QP at CNS inter has been closed for some time with the withdrawl of QF mainline services from that terminal.

I'm travelling JQ from MEL-CNS-NRT next week so I assume my only lounge option is the QF Domestic lounge at CNS?
